The Official Recommendations Thread

I pre-ordered it online and it still says it is a pre-order.

Would anyone suggest the big guy and rusty the boy robot. I always liked the show but never read the comic. The art looks cool but is the comic decent.

Big Guy and little Rusty was one of those Classic indie comics like Ninja Turtles and Tick. I never read it myself, but i've heard nothing but love for it.

Sweet I love me some TMNTand the tick so i'll guess i'll get it. It will be hard though sense I don't buy stuff over the web.

Well, like Eli said, you can go to your comic shop and they can order it for you. Hell, Amazon's got a few copies, i'm sure your LCS can locate some BG&R stuff for you.

New X-Men vol 1: E is for Extinction

Morrison had some great ideas for fixing the X-Men, the Morrison Manifesto included in this tpb is a great, interesting read. A good extra. I agree with pretty much everything he proposes and then executes in the book. Plus he has typical Morrison fooked-out ideas. Black Bug Room? He's on the weed and I love it.:o I dug this trade. Too bad Quitely couldn't do the art on all 4 included issues (3 out of 4 ain't bad).

Just for future reference, any comic store can get any trade that's still in print in stock and have it there within a week. It'a amazing how many people don't realize this.

Isn't it about 20-25 bucks or so? Don't usually have that amount on me and it was an impulse buy anyway.

Eh...I plan to upgrade from shabby DVDs to their two-disc versions, might as well follow suit with my graphic novels. :o

What do you guys think was the most tripped-out thing Morrison has ever published?

I'd say the beginning parts of the Manhatten Guardian mini in Seven Soldiers--modern-day pirates driving around in subway cars looking for radioactive gold from the origin of New York? I don't know what kind of drugs he's taking, but I seriously want some. :o

It's the one Morrison work I wasn't that into, otherwise I'm a ****ing Morrison ****e.

Never heard of it. Can you tell me what it's about?

Eh, copy/paste from Publishers Weekly (via Amazon):
Like his best-known works The Invisibles and Doom Patrol, this story follows a subterranean organization with terrifying science at its disposal—but in a break from Morrison's previous works, covert government agency the Hand is actually working to maintain the status quo against the mass hallucinations of a society that needs to dream. The story follows Greg Feely, a balding, middle-aged man who wants nothing more than to look at porn and care for his sick cat. It soon emerges that Feely is actually Ned Slade, special negotiator for the Hand. As Feely/Slade tries to decide which personality he really is, he takes on such twisted entities as deviant superman Spartacus Hughes; Anders Klimakks, a porn star with black semen and irresistible pheromones; the Libertania, a giant ocean liner that's its own country; and Dmitri, a deadly communist monkey assassin.

pretty sure the Invcinibel vol 2 trade has been pushed back a couple of times, dunno why

That's.

F**king.

AWESOME.

It's so far the only comic book that actually gave me a headache trying to understand it.

The monkey basically makes the story. I laughed out loud whenever he said/did anything :D:up:

Now, who wouldn't want to read it just for this:

True--plus the guy with the black semen was enough to make me go "What the f**k?! I must read this!" :D

That sounds in a way like A Scanner Darkly. Definatly picking it up.

Oh, and the art is ****ing phoenomenal as well. Ultra detailed and crisp
