The Official Recommendations Thread

I recommend Fear Agent by Dark Horse. Full of action and surprises...anyone can die in any issue. The art is excellent, and the stories have a little bit of everything. It keeps me coming back for more. It's definitely not for the faint of heart, though.

Hey, I was wondering if anyone could recommend some "graphic novels" to me. I'm fairly new to Marvel comics (long time Batman fan - have bought all of the "essential" novels), and am just looking to expand my collection beyond the Bat.

Basically I'm looking for Spiderman, Capt' America & Iron Man maybe X-Men (particularly Wolverine stuff) "novels". Something along the lines of stuff from the Batman graphic novels, such as Long Halloween, Hush, The Man Who Laughs etc...

Thanks a lot.

Are the Annihilation books worth buying?
Definately! And if you like them you should check out the sequel, Annihilation: Conquest.

Unless of course you know some way of getting them for free... Then go with that!

There's a recomendation thread that might help you out:http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=186190&page=64

As far as your request, by graphic novel, do you mean graphic novel (original material) or trade paperback (a collection of previously published comics). Most people use them interchangeably. But they would be wrong...

I guess I mean a collection of previously published comics. Basically a complete story if you know what I mean. Like I own a lot of old, TPB single issues but I'm looking for entire story collections. Like they did w/ Long Halloween in Batman. Hope that clarifies things.

Thanks.

Eagle, just go back to the first page of this thread

If I may, I recomend the current cap run. If you cant find the issues, marvel has released them in hardcover form.

I reccomend I Am Legend. It's exactly the same as the book but the art work is great and definitely wortyh picking up if you haven't read the book.

I would like to go ahead and recommend Grant Morrison's The Invisibles.

This was the Matrix before the Matrix even came out. The story begins when a team of anarchists, part of a larger network of anarchists, try to recruit Jack Frost, a kid from Liverpool who just may be the next Buddha.

The team is led by King Mob, and also includes a telepath named Ragged Robin, former NYPD and hand to hand combat expert Boy, and a transvestite shaman by the name of Lord Fanny. The team goes on a series of missions where they end up fighting demonic, mystic, and sometimes alien foes. They use everything from guns to magick to kung fu in the story and it's a pretty fun read. This is probably the most trippy and complex story Morrison has ever told and I think it's a pretty good read (though not for everybody).

The series is collected in 7 tpbs and is highly recommended to fans of Grant Morrison, anarchy, time travel, magick, and/or tantric sex.

I guess if you have low reading comprehension skills then yes, it is.

Of course, you might be right and everybody else who really likes the Invisibles could really be wrong...

But I think it's more likely that you're just an ass who feels the need to tell everyone that what they like is bad and what you like is good.

I'd have to say the Sandman series (Gaiman's) from Vertigo is highly recommended along with Fables from Vertigo.

I'm thinking of buying the first trade of Astounding Wolf-Man, is it worth a look?

Can anyone tell me which of the following Alan Moore comics are worth getting:

- A Small Killing
- DC Universe: Stories of Alan Moore
- Top Ten
- Miracle Man
- Albion

DCU = Definitely worth it.

Not sure about the others.

Miracleman is ****ing awesome. Get it get it get it.

Good luck trying to track it down, though.

Yeah, it's very hard to find. If you can't get that, try Top Ten. It's awesome.
