The Official Recommendations Thread

And if you get hooked on that, there's a new "season" of Top 10 starting in a couple weeks.

Cool thanks for the recommendations anubis and blader!

I'll be on the lookout for DCU best of Alan Moore, Miracle Man and Top Ten

I still haven't read From Hell, I saw the film and it was not very good so I wasn't too sure if the comic book would be that interesting...

Understand that pretty much every movie made from books that Alan Moore wrote has been utter trash because they deviated so far from the actual story, it's pointless to even refer to it as an adaptation. So, From Hell, V for Vendetta, the League of Extraordinary gentlemen. These are all things you should read for yourself and not judge based on the movies because they were all pretty much adaptations in name only.

From Hell is a masterpiece - I actually didn't mind the movie adaptation but it's nothing compared to the book. Remember there are reasons these books get turned into multimillion dollar movies they are great works people tend not to adapt rubbish - just sometimes the product ends up being rubbish.

I do agree Top 10 is my favourite stuff he did outside him most famous stuff. The 49'ers in particular.

Tom Strong is also worth checking out but lesser so.

I only recently read the first volume of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and it is everything the movie is not - I'll have to keep getting the volumes.

If you want to read Marvel Man then the best place to get it now is actually through downloads but I won't condone that ;)

Sadly. Hopefully some day they can get all this legal ******** and get back to finishing the book! Gaiman's stuff was just starting to get good.

Since we're talking about Alan Moore, what's the consensus on Promethea? Any good?

I loved it. Bit on the metaphysical side, but still, good stuff.

So, anything Blader hates is good. So go ahead and check out Promethea.

I disagree completely. I thought Wanted was pure shock and awe with no substance and overly pretentious drivel that ive come to know from Mark Millar.

I agree completely. I thought the movie was more well done with the exception of
the whole weaving wheel thing

What's the word on Morrison's massive Seven Soldiers project? I've been thinking about picking it up.

Can anyone speak for the Legend of Drizzt comic titled Homeland? I tried the novel, Homeland, but the prose wasn't to my liking. I feel the comic may be more for me.

I liked the individual stories, but the main overreaching arc was pretty disappointing.

does anyone know what's happening with Rex Mundi?? I got so addicted to that comic but haven't seen or heard of any dates of when the new issues are releasing... i heard something about some crappy issue about Brother Mathew but I'm so wondering when the real story will continue... it's addictive!!

I just picked up the first volume of Sandman, and I'm about ten pages in and so far it's okay at best. Does anyone know if the story picks up later, or is just not my cup of tea?

Towards the end of the first volume, when you see what Dr. Destiny gets up to with that Dream Stone of Morpheus. After that it's all gold, of course it helps if you have a pretty wide appreciation for different genres.

Is that Dini Zatanna book from way back worth a read?

for anyone that enjoys the works of lovecraft i recommend the trade of the same name which is basically a biography about the author, written with elements of the fantastic.I dont truly care to say more since im lazy, and just wanted to get the word out since i dont see or hear many people talking about it.
