Supposedly we'll be getting some answers in regards to his past in the comics at some point.

What he said, comics all about Sheperd (Sheperd with an E) Book, supposedly this year but with Dollshouse & stuff it could be next year by the time the comics come out.

Nice, thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely keep an eye out for those.

I have just ordered the 2 prequel comics from Amazon and althought I pretty much know what happens, I still cant wait to read them, just to get more of this universe and the characters.

And who ever said the movie gets better and better everytime they watch it was spot on. I had forgotten how amazing this movie was until I saw it on TV the other night, amazing movie.

If I had my say a sequel would start with the marriage of Kaylee and Simon, picking up a few years after the movie. River, still more than a little off.

As a theme, I'd play with loyalty vs principle a great deal. I'd add a new passenger, a street magician who's sleight of hand and presentation skill comes in handy, and bring the Operative back as a disgraced Ronin. The Operative, trained by Shepherd, would be who I use to explore Books backstory a bit, while the Magician would play a love interest for River, only to turn out to be a plant. The main villains would be some Dust Devils with very serious plans for the newly disgraced Alliance, and their newfound supporters. They'd be bitter Browncoats, old friends of Mal's with a family member of Zoe's in their ranks, and they'd be in the process of taking the Alliance military machine apart beautifully.

In the end, the Magician would get that nice sacrifice self for the good of all. Jayne would settle down somewhere, the Operative would help save their behind, if not actually join up, and they'd acquire some orphan kid, child of the main villain.

Its a nice idea, but the Magician seems like to much of a red shirt. I dont really think anyone has to sacrifice themselves. The Dust Devils are a cool idea, but I also dont like the Operative being trained by Book. Seems way to convenient. It sucks that Book died cause his past could have brought the crew into a great adventure, otherwise The Operative as a ronin is a nice idea.

I'd love it if it turned out there were other "River's" out there-that is, other psychics trained by the government. One would make a great villian for a sequel.

Wondering how many people they exactly altered in question to be like River.

My favorite show and one of my favorite movies ever! Anyone who hasn't see them.....see them now. Do yourself a favor and start with the season of "Firefly" before you start "Serenity".

Exploring River's "classmates" would be sweet too

Last i heard though a serenity sequel didnt sound very promising :(

There is a good chance that there are other Rivers out there with who knows what kind of powers as a result of Alliance experiments.

But I would not want another "superpower" to pop up

It's not Heroes :cwink:

But it is Sci-fi... if they could explain another power with something we actually can do (take out the part of the brain that does X), then I'd have no problem with another Reader, or someone with Eidetic memory, or someone who could calculate like a computer. It seems even less threatening of Heroes-ing up the storyline as River has been repeatedly stated to be the top of her class. Other Academy projects thusly wouldn't show her range (not that its immense), magnitude (not that she's all that powerful) or stability (not that she's all that stable) or lack in all three. While they could add a nice challenge or dynamic, they shouldn't be old or cogent enough to be a main villain.

Thanks for the review though CK... Magician can be redeemed I guess. Perhaps more of a foil and counterpoint for Inara than anything else. And there's no reason that Book's backstory can't still provide adventure. It's just a matter of how.

How about a sequel all about protecting some space hookers

...oh wait

Only Firefly could make that idea plausible :)

They could definately still explore Book's past in a sequel, they could do it through his family or even River revealing she knew what he was all along and this gets them in trouble again. I like the idea of The Operative returning, as well as new crew members and I would love to see Tom Jane added as a badass, cowboy type villain.

Ha ha, loved that episode.

I've always been interested in re-visiting the crew of the ship that "saved" Mal in "Out of Gas". They seemed to be doing the same thing as the Serenity crew out there in the Black, only with a weaker moral code.

Likewise, seeing Adelei Niska again could also be interesting. So if there's another movie maybe Nisska could be the main villain and this other crew would be people he hires?

Anyway, it's all just hypothetical since I doubt there'll be another movie. :(

We will be lucky if we get more comics really. But in a way I am glad it died when it did.

Sometimes shows that go on for too long can rot a bit. Just look at Buffy - I mean that was a marvel of a show but still it fell a tad towards the end.

Wish they'd do something on the lost 8 months prior to the movie. How they met up with Mr Universe etc. and at least a rematch with the crew who rescued Mal in Out of Gas, (maybe they hook up with Mrs Reynolds lol) and a closure with Niska. That bastard needs to fry.

Niska and the crew would be interesting to visit, but I am not sure they can, with Universal owning Serenity and Fox owning Firefly, and then, other than the crew no other Firefly character showing up, it seemed to me like a rights thing. I fully expected Badger or Niska to show up for sure.

It would be cool to check up on Saffron, see how she's doing in a sequel.

Badger is the man! Great character.

I would like to see a little more time spent looking into the alliance. We had a few good episodes where they feature a lot. I want to see a bit more. Maybe we will get that with Books comic.

Also a bit more back story on the war and how Earth was used up and maybe the start of the human race expanding out over space to the new planets. Maybe Mal ahs a dad? Could be good to go back in time for a good story.

Awww... Saffron. I'm going to have to watch that episode again.

This is one show with some really awesome guest characters. Badger never did anything for me, but apparently someone thinks he's awesome. We all know about Saffron, but do you know who really made me love this series second time through?

Jubal Early. A GREAT performance, imho. He really gave us a quirky bounty hunter. All professional, and he sold the whole introspective angle gloriously. I've found myself quoting him pretty often.

Early: Am I a lion?
Simon: What?
Early: I don't think of myself as a lion. You might as well, though — I have a mighty roar.
Simon: I said "Alliance".
Early: Oh, I thought...
Simon: No, I was...
Early: That's weird.
