The Official Skip Bayless Sucks thread

If Jeter was doping it would be crushing for baseball, you can't deny that. He's different than guys like A-Rod or Manny where it's a circus following them around 24/7.

I some how think that baseball would survive Jeter using PEDs.

That's ridiculous. I can't even begin to explain how ridiculous that is.

Well you're gonna have to because I don't possibly see how it's ridiculous to think that Derek freaking Jeter getting busted for PED's won't do major damage to Major League Baseball.

It wouldn't. Baseball will go on. Games will be played, players will get over paid. If anything, it would give a lot more credibility to MLB and it's drug testing if Derek "Freaking" Jeter was busted. No one is above the law or bigger than the game itself. It would do wonders for MLB with it comes to people's perception of their drug testing program.

Like I said above, the league would survive. It's silly to think that the league would fold over it, I agree totally but that's not what I'm saying.

I'm saying it would do major damage to the league that one of it's best players for over the last 15 years, one of the faces of the league in commercials and charity events, who has been as clean as a whistle the entire time be exposed as cheater. It would be as damaging if Tom Brady or Sidney Crosby got busted for drugs in their respective leagues.

The only credibility the drug policy would earn by catching Jeter is that everyone, no matter who they are, gets tested.

It would affect MLB for a week before something else happens in the news cycle. It wouldn't be extremely damaging to the league as much as you think it would be.

I don't think Jeter has doped or doping personally but again, the possibility is always there.

Nobody is wishing for his downfall (well Docker might but I think he's making more of a point than anything). We're just saying that in this day and age, no one should be shocked if someone is suing PEDs. That simple. It's ridiculous to be "Oh no, not Jeter! He's too classy!"

Thanks Darth. I was making a point actually. I actually like Jeter but it kind of urks me that people see this guy as above questioning. In baseball, I don't think anyone is above questioning, whether it be Jeter, Pujols, or Big Papi. The sport is tainted in so many ways that's it beyond ridiculous.

If you want to question Jeter (or any player) when you're talking with friends in your personal life or on a social message board that's a whole lot different from a member of the media doing it. There's certain responsibilities Skip Bayless has as a member of the media that he threw by the wayside for press. That's why everybody came down on him so hard. It's easy for anybody on this board to say" IDK what the big deal is" because "we" don't have certain responsibilities we have to live by like they do.

Skip's responsibility is to get viewers and sell papers. Mission accomplished.

And that's why ESPN sucks now. They allow this stupidity to occur....constantly. They are the Fox News of sports.

Jeter isn't beyond questioning/suspension. End of story.

Agreed! When did Jeter ascend to Heaven? Dude has the same emotions that all humans have and aging is one of them. You speak truth. No one is saying he even did it but to even ask is blasphemy? What kind of crap is that?!

Didn't watch First Take Monday morning, but I'm sure Skip had much to say about Tebow's MVP performance of 5 carries for 11 yards. :o

Nah, he was responding to Durant, who didn't like the Lebron comment, but honestly it's fair. You don't practice with your enemy. You'd never see Magic practice with Bird or Jordan practice with Ewing. There are just rules to the game and these players today are to buddy, buddy.

It's called progression. Do we all live the same way we did 25 years ago? Nope. I don't see what the issue is.

I actually can see Skip's point on this. You don't seem to go as hard against a guy you like compared to a guy you don't like. A lot of guys these days don't know how to make the difference.

I see his point but I don't think it's an issue at all.

Oh well we agree. I'm just saying he has a point that a lot of people tend to blow off and say he's hating but he does indeed have a point.

Oh and for what Skip said about Tebow, he made excuses saying how he thinks Timmy is injured because he didn't run hard and was stretching his back a lot.

Well Lance gave him something provocative to talk about, at least for a day. But the last few months, Skip's grown increasingly disrespectful (word to Stephen A) and ignorant. It's like he's desperate to find another scapegoat ever since Lebron succeeded in the Finals/Olympics. He just looks foolish trying to criticize Lebron after that, and his guy Tebow won't be doing anything meaningful for who knows how long. He's just throwing sh** at the wall now, seeing what, if anything, sticks.

^ That quote right there is exactly what's still happening. Skip is like a fish out of water, he looks so desperate. As long as Sanchez plays decent, Tebow won't be out there for him to talk about, and like I said above, Lebron got it done. He looks foolish just trying to find something to be controversial about, speaking of which...

Stephen A was spot on in his assessment this morning about Skip trying to backhandedly criticize Lebron through Durant. What he said had nothing to do with Durant really, he's basically trying to say that the only reason Lebron won the Finals is because he had enough confidence that Kevin Durant was his "buddy" or AKA, going to be soft with him. As if KD could play Lebron stronger even if he wanted to, he's giving up damn near 80 pounds to the man.

Skip is in freefall right now, the Jeter thing didn't stick, Americans don't care enough about the Tour de France to care about Armstrong more than a day, Lebron won, lol, I mean, he's just fishing for something, ANYTHING, to remain provocative, and in turn, relevant. He's already firmly planted against Aaron Rodgers & Andrew Luck so I guess they'll be on the menu next...

Add Joe Flacco, Jake Locker, & anyone who questions the greatness of the Patriots to that list.
