A place where talking about LOTR's is no shame!
Where opinions, ideas, and questions can be talked about!
Welcome to the LOTR's official thread!
(mod please don't close)

Favorite characters?
Aragorn for me, and yes i know he is very known but when I was reading the books I felt as if I were him, when I watched all those movies first day they came out in the threaters i was right their with my man Aragorn!
And that is why Aragorn is part of my top fantasy chacarcters!

all it was was a bunch of people walkin, a bunch of people walkin to a ****in volcanoe!

The guy that shot the arrows was badass. I think his name was Legeous? Can't spell it at all and don't want to look it up.

most boring movies.... ever.

nice special effects, and good production values, but no heart. just... boring.

No heart? The films had plenty of heart. Characters evolve into what they become when the climax arrives in Return of the King. I have to say my favorite character was Sam. Sean Astin did a brilliant job at conveying the emotion, the loyalty, and the bravery that Sam felt when Frodo was in need of his assistance and strength.

As I said, I don't agree when you say it doesn't have heart. It has plenty of heart and plenty of moments that make you feel the loss, the courage, and the ultimate truimph.

That's just my opinion though.

One ring to rule them all...

A complete abuse of the second and third books, with so many unecessary changes, not to mention the horrific pacing of the last film and a general lack of inspiration.

How do you turn the book voted the greatest of the millenium into that?

I agree 100%. Sam is my favorite.

Star Wars will always be my favorite trilogy of films, but that doesn't mean I can't love LOTR as well.
My favorite characters are Merry and Pippin.

Those ****in' hobbit movies were boring as hell. All it was, was a bunch of people walking, three movies of people walking to a ****ing volcano.

wow... way to use the exact same quote someone already used on this very page... clever!

Lack of inspiration? Where did you get that notion? The third film combined the emotional darkness and the epic nature of the story into a majestic piece of art.

How do you turn the book voted greatest of the millenium into that? Well, Peter Jackson did something right, they swept the Academy Awards and is critically acclaimed for a reason. This isn't like X-Men, Spider-Man, Pirates, Matrix, or Shrek where the first two films are praised and the last one is crapped on.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy maintained a positive following from fans and critics alike. I truly believe that if J.R.R. Tolkien were alive to see it he would've been proud.

I still hate how they handled TTT. The warg attack was stupid etc. But mainly the trilogy was a good adaptation of the book. The ending of FotR is still the greatest.

I like the movies much more than the books.

I get the feeling this thread is not being taken seriously ...

I don't know if you're talking about me or the movie, but it just seems that with every post, you become more and more ignorant. I would laugh if I didn't feel so sorry for your family.

Fellowship of the Ring was the bets of the trilogy in my opinoun. Before i saw the films I always enjoyed The two towers more (the novel) Im not really a LOTR fan but the mvoies are okay I just think there over-rated.

Stay on topic Darko.

You have to admit Darko is an over-rated film, is there a thread for Darko. Id go into detail there but alas this is the wrong place.

Back to LOTR

Well okay who do you think would win in a fight Gandolf the White or Darth Vader?
