The Official Stupid Question Thread: Marvel Edition - Part 6

DC comics Catman was overweight when he first gave up being Catman due to always being beaten and humiliated. He stayed overweight and out of action for years until he got his second wind, went to Africa, got in shape (in other words, unrealistically comic-book muscular) and lived with a pride of lions, then returned to the USA as the new kickass Catman, pre-new 52.

But he's not a superhero.
Nor is he Marvel.
And he didn't start off fat, just got fat and then got back in shape.

Has anyone ever ended a fight faster because they had to use the bathroom? Lol.

I'm pretty sure Spider-Man did that at least once. I'd actually be surprised if they didn't do it.

Maybe it was Deadpool.

has there ever been a formerly fat superhero?

I was thinking about it, with characters like Peter Parker, or Steve Rogers, they started out as scrawny weak guys (I always kinda took offense to this, when they would say that it was to make them more relatable to fans... like all fans are skinny weaklings...kind of a stereotype)

but on the other side of the stereotype scale, you have the overweight fans (again a bit of an offense stereotype, at the very least an out dated one) but, if believed to be true at all... who do those fat fans have to relate too?
I was just looking at a list of overweight comic book characters. Only a couple of them were guys who started fat and became thin, and none of those guys really "started" that way, they just used to be cut, in-their-prime superheroes who had gotten fat in retirement, and then have to get back in shape. Guys like Mr. Incredible or Earth X Spider-Man or Nite Owl in Watchman (who isn't really back in the suit long enough to shed his beer gut, but anyway.) So yeah, interesting angle. Getting fat is generally something only old super-heroes do, not new ones.

There was an short-lived comic called Major Bummer from DC in the 90's about a slacker who gets super-powers.

Well I couldn't find the answer but I did find this.

Does it count? :p

What trade follows "Inhumans: Silent War"?

By follows, do you mean "comes after"? The storyline was unfortunately abandoned in a way that's unresolved.

If that was the thing about Quicksilver stealing xerogen crystals, Peter David picked that story back up in his X-Factor runs. Toward the end of the last X-Factor series about Madrox and X-Factor Investigations and into All-New X-Factor.

Quicksilver stole the crystals in Son of M (I love that story)
Silent War was the sequel where the United States refused to return the crystals and the Inhumans declared war. The story kind of ended with Maximus being in charge of the Inhumans.

The xerogen crystals were in a Mighty Avengers storyline with the unspoken. That one gave closure to Son of M and redeemed Quicksilver in the eyes of all Inhumans but his daughter, but it didn't address Silent War at all.

What happened to the Marvel vs DC thread? Why it be closed?

What happened to the Marvel vs DC thread? Why it be closed?

Miscommunication. I'll create a new one.

Long story, I posted "close thread" to be the very last post in the old one. As you know, when Thread Manager closes a thread and continues it into the next one, the very last poster's post (in my case, the post reading "close thread") will repost in the newer thread. Someone saw the newest thread with "close post" posted and...closed that one, too.

Silent War was such an amazing story. I thought it could have served as a backdrop for a Quicksilver solo

Son of M and Silent War are good, but I thought they were pretty depressing and cynical too. That's why I liked the 'Secret Invasion: Inhumans" mini, because that comes right after those and it felt like they were making a comeback and kicking ass again.

I'm a big Inhumans fan, so I'll say I liked that one too (I couldn't precisely recall it, though, I knew there was one story I was missing). I agree that Silent War isn't great, but I do love Son of M. It's the biggest reason the retcon with Quicksilver bothers me so much. I think it makes that story significantly weaker in retrospect. The story was about Quicksilver becoming his father and trying to act as protector of mutant-kind at all costs. It intersected with him being an outsider in the Inhumans. And it had some f'd up parental custody issues that could be kind of surreal.

Oh I think I confused Silent War with Son of M. SoM was the first one after DeciMation right? That was the amazing book I was thinking of

Off topic but WC, are you done with the vs thread?

Umm...no? It's there, and new.

Feel free to PM me. This back 'n' forth here is weird.

Has Tony used the Hulkbuster armor to fight anyone other than Hulk? Like Red Hulk or Abomination maybe?
