Is this a group think session I walked into?

If you make comments like...

And don't for a second think that the Incredible Hulk and Iron Man 2 are in any way shape or form better than those films that I listed above because they're not.

...don't act surprised or play the victim if people disagree with you. Your comment amounts to saying, "Dont express a different opinion than mine on this subject, because it is wrong." Of course people are going to disagree with that. It has nothing to do with "group think."

I think there are some valid points to be made on both sides of the discussion. Marvel studios has in effect already recognized this. On the one hand, it is incredibly cool to see all these characters coming together in a shared universe. On the other hand, too much crossing over can adversely affect individual movies. By all accounts, the crossover material in Thor is less obstrusive than in IM2, and I'm sure Cap will be similar in that regard.

So, the studio is going to build toward Avengers, then back off and let each individual character's movies stand alone, with the Avengers as the team-up franchise.

My problem with the X-men movies was that they all wore the same black leather outfits , I'd always rather have comic book movies actually look like the comic book

But yea , X2 was pretty good

And that's the only point I've tried to make. Yeah, it's nice but it comes with individual consequences...hence my issues with Iron Man 2. I honestly wouldn't have had any issues with the Incredible Hulk had Marvel not cut the crap out of it. 20 of those 44 minutes worth of deleted scenes on the Blu Ray NEEDED to be in that film...

Other than Stryker's villainy, I'm kinda lukewarm on X2. That was the only standout of the film to me. Awesome villain. Best I'd ever seen to date in a superhero film to be honest. At least at the time. X2 was better than X1 but then I didn't like X1 too much at all.

I place X2,X-men,The Incredible Hulk and Director's cut of Daredevil(Yes I will be bashed for saying that) as best marvel films. Those are marvel films on my top 10 best comic book films ever.

I would place both Iron Man films before the Rami Spider-Man trilogy.

The Ang Lee Hulk Is a huge failure for me except on 2 counts 1:The Split screen and 2:The army VS Hulk sequenze Including Hulk Major leaping Is a huge plus.

My top 10 comic book films are

1:Superman,X2,batman Begins,The dark Knight
5:X-men
6:Batman Returns
7:Batman
8:SUperman II(Donner Cut)
9:The Incredible Hulk
10:Dardevil(Director's Cut)

The top 5 comic book films I am anticipting

1:X-Men:First Class
2:The Avengers
3:The Dark Knight Rises
4:The Wolverine
5:Captain America:The First Avenger

I hated the split screen idea. It works in a comic book because the page is static. You can take your time to soak it all up. But a film is IN MOTION. And I hated having to concentrate on several different panels at the same time.

But the Hulk Vs. the Army scene was pretty good and is a guilty pleasure of mine. But it's just a scene. I can pick cool scenes out of EVERY superhero film. Even Catwoman...probably(if I cared to search for them, which I don't). But cool individual scenes on their own do not themselves make for a good movie.

How exactly does Nightcrawler, Blade 2 or any of the X-films relate to "Thor rate & review" again??? Is this really the spot for a fanbay slapfight out of nowhere?

How did Lee's film not respect the source material?

And don't for a second think that the Incredible Hulk and Iron Man 2 are in any way shape or form better than those films that I listed above because they're not.

Agreed about The Incredible Hulk. It's by far Marvel Studios' most underwhelming movie, in my opinion. I would easily rank some of the Spider-Man and X-Men movies above it.

As for Thor, I'm glad to hear it's getting good reviews and people are liking it. I really hope it's on par with Iron Man, if not better. That would make two great Marvel Studios movies for me. I've never really understood the backlash for Iron Man 2. I don't think it's as good as the first, but I certainly don't think it's bad either.

I liked X-men and X2 at the time, but compared to the recent Marvel Studios movies they pale by comparison. My main problem being the complete bastardization of Cyclops. I did like the ending to X2 (although really it's a total hommage to Star Trek II the Wrath of Khan), but the follow up in X3 was embarassing.

Daredevil was horrible, although I did like Colin Farrel's over the top performance as Bullseye. The final fight in the church at the end of the movie was so over the top rediculous that movie doesn't deserve to be taken seriously.

I found it to be a very enjoyable movie. I feelthat people that read the comics alot expect they storyto be more in depth. This is proberlly beacause we all know the story that took months to find out they have had to cut it to 2 hours. There just telling the general story. I throughly enjoyed hawkeyes cameo but wished he had fired a tranquliser arrow at thor. Nick Furys after the credits was good aswell and leads into what the avengers mission or lot may be. This is a great movie and i give it 9/10

Now can i ask a question was nick furys eyepatch on the other eye to ironman some annoying kid sitting next tome rekend it was, so was it?

Also x2 was the worst of the franhise. Also dose anyone remember the oldnick fury movie

X2 has ever Marvel Studios' film beat in spades.

No it doesn't. All it is is just a higher budgeted X-Men Wolverine movie.

Xavier incapacitated - check
Cyclops not doing anything - check
Wolverine fighting a female - check
Storm not doing anything - check
Jean Grey not doing anything until the end - check

And aren't they supposed to be a team? Why was Wolverine hogging up the screen time and action sequences? Why didn't Iceman actually turn into I don't know an Iceman? Why doesn't this look like the team that's portrayed in the comics, cartoons, videogames etc.? (And no I'm not talking about the suits)

Apart from the opening credits and some references take some stuff away and it wouldn't even be an X-Men movie.

Atleast Iron Man you know its an Iron Man movie, same with Hulk, Thor and Cap. They don't neuter their characters. With the Avengers you're not going to see a member of the team just showing off their power in small spurts with one character hogging up the spotlight with the rest of the team doing nothing or incapacitated.

Was this a good movie starring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine? Sure. Was it a great X-Men movie people make it out to be? Not even close. First Class actually looks like a mutant team up movie.

I bet if X-Men were at Marvel you'd see a real X-Men movie.

Beaten by spades? Not even close.

^^^ I agree. I like the X-Men movies but my biggest beef with them is how much they focus on Wolverine.

OT: Can't wait to see Thor tomorrow!

Well, I think Marvel's movies are certainly closer to the comics and therefore closer to what fans of the characters want to see. Whether or not that makes them better movies is a more subjective issue.

For the record, I've never liked the X-movies. Partly, I think, because Wolverine is not a character I have ever really cared much about. Not only, though. I found them boring, and they just didn't grab me at all, either on an emotional level, or as pure entertainment.

And I never liked the way they made Cyclops a secondary character

The X-Men movies should have just been called , Wolverine and Pals

I don't know about anyone else, but when I think X-Men the first thing that pops into my mind is that classic Jim Lee cover. None of these movies came close to capturing that.

I wanted to see something like that old Pryde of the X-Men cartoon I saw when I first got introduced to them many years ago. Cyclops barking orders, Storm bringing down well the storm saying something badass, Collosus for more than two seconds tryng to lift Blob or going toe to toe with Juggernaut, them storming Asteroid M or that island. Stuff like that.

Nope all we got was Wolverine and his neutered friends

You mean the classic Jim Lee cover with Wolverine in the front, Cyclops in the back, and the rest of the X-Men neatly tucked away in a fold out cover? :yay:

Awesome!:word:

Agreed 100% here.

Haha. Magneto is more prominent, Cyke and Wolverine are side by side with the rest of the team behind them.

I always picture that shot as a whole. :cwink:

Cyclops and Wolverine side-by-side? I wish, but, for better or worse, Marvel literally appears to not share the same perspective as you.

It wasn't a fold out cover. It was 4 different covers that joined up.
