The Official Tom Welling Thread - Part 1

Tom's 34 years old, he's a bit old for The Runaways, no?

I'm telling you, Welling = Hank Pym/Ant Man

Seriously??? There's a character out there called Antman. Where do they come up with these names.

Tom, I want to see you do a good ol' RomCom first. :hrt:

Then you can go and be Antman. :woot:

I'm flattered you guys want Welling to play me in a biopic.

Superman, Batman, etc ..... you can kinda live with. 'Antman' as a name is going down the hill slightly, but because the name's been out there for years we accept it and are used to it.

I see your point though. If a new superhero was suddenly introduced by DC tomorrow called 'CowMan', 'LionMan' or 'HedgehogMan', the world would laugh. I don't see AntMan as being much better!

I would like to see Tom in the Dukes of Hazzard as either Luke Duke or Vance Duke. :super:

It is a stupid name for a superhero. My parents gave me that nickname when I was kid.

trsut me, you wont be complaining when you see a 50 ft tall Tom Welling on your screen ;)

As a DC fanboy, I have to admit that if Tom were to be cast in a Marvel movie, while I'd be happy for the guy, it would be bittersweet.

That dude is Superman. Seeing him as any other comic character just wouldn't feel right.

But could it be as bad as the Human Torch playing Captain America? :hehe:

That's exactly how I feel.. it would just seem wrong because we never got him as Superman in a film.

I can't wait for Captain America. I'm looking forward to it more than Green Lantern. Hell, I'm looking forward to the new X-Men movie more than GL.

The only way we see him as Superman Is JLA. But we wont so Marvel is a good idea.

What is Tom's next move?
Is anyone aware of any projects he is signed on to or rumored to be involved in?

WB have given him an office so they must have plans to get him into producing or directing of some sort.

I'd like to see him on screen in something decent, he's a very charismatic guy and has a lot of screen presence. Even as a Smallville fan, I'm the first to admit that Smallville didn't showcase any acting ability he has asides from the odd moment, but I always put that down to the Dawson's Creek style writing. In the few moments where he really shone on screen, I thought there was a great ability there which just needed polished up. Some critics of Smallville have written him off already simply because he was on the show ................ but then again, no-one ever expected that Tom Hanks would progress from 80s lighthearted comedies to being an Oscar winner, and no-one thought that funny guy Michael Keaton could ever play anything like Batman until he took on the role. Would be interesting to see Tom take a stab at something different and prove those critics wrong.

As of right now we dont really know what his plans are. Tom did say in various interviews he wants to take a little time off to rest and recharge. And with hellcats getting passed off for another season. I am sure tom and his company will look into in projects for television. Hopefully tom will also try getting some film roles and/or maybe direct a feature length film.

THIS LOOK LIKE A JOB FOR SUPERMAN !!!!

So apparently there's been this rumor floating around that Tom has been approached by Stephen Spielberg to play Chief Brody in Spike Lee's "Jaws 3D".

Haven't seen any rumor of that myself. Or of any new jaws film. I do recall a rumor a few yrs back of a film but it didn't go anywhere if I recall. Where you hear this rumor.
