Not sure if one of these have been made... but the search thing takes hours and ends up at a blank page anyway, so...

I just moved to Toronto almost 2 months ago for college. I've been exploring a little, mostly around the Eaton's Centre and Queen West. I've been to the AMC theatre ($13 tickets! And I saw Iron Man twice there! Dammit!), and ate at the Jack Astor's there... I'm fond of the Pickle Barrel across the street.

So, for any of you that live here, let me know of any places I should visit, and just talk in general about this classy, glassy, beautiful city. Oh, and rant about the noisy soccer fans that like to wave flags and honk every freaking night no matter who wins the damn thing, whatever it is.

You should visit my apartment...which is 2.5 hours away from Toronto :(

I remember there was this...oh wait that was in Niagara falls. :p

I was there in '01. I'd have to look at my travel journal, but if you're not into mussels and don't drink there's no point. :o

I haven't been there in forever. Just as well. There's only so many times I can go to/walk by the haunted houses, the Believe It Or Not place, and of course, the Falls. I honestly can't remember the last thing I did there.

I can't wait till I have more money, and people to spend it with. Yay for school. I never thought I'd say that.

Apparently the music camp I'm going to will be seeing Evil Dead: The Musical at some point... I don't think I want to go.

Did you see the Turkey fans going into Little Italy to celebrate? :hehe:

Are you going to Ryerson? Sounds like the hood.

As for recomendations...Kensington Market is always a fun time. Lots of vintage stores and fresh food.

Most of the bars and restaurants I like are in the Annex. Try the Green Room, at Brunswick and Bloor, for awesome vibe and the cheapest drinks in the city. The Lab has 3.50 martini's on Wednesdays (also Brunswick and Bloor). Dance Cave is a good time, no cover with student ID. It's in the same building as Lee's Palace. And of course the Madison Avenue Pub :D

If you eat meat, you should definitely go to Duffs wings. They are the absolute best. On College just a block or two west of bathurst. There are also lots of good bars on College. Sneaky Dee's is College and Bathurst, and the Mod Club is Ossington and College. Of course these places are good if you like more rock/indie music. If you want top 40/house, most places in the entertainement district will do the trick.

For comics, everyone loves Silver Snail. The staff isn't quite what they used to be, but they carry a lot of figurines and rare TPB's and comics.

Ooo and..Roncasvelles! People don't mention it much but it is a cool area. It also is home to the best movie store I have ever been too, The Film Buff. They have EVERYTHING and the guy who owns the place knows a ton about movies. The area is also nice to explore. Just take the Roncasvelles streetcar from Dundas West station.

Also, go to the Toronto Islands one day this summer! It's fun to spend the day. You can bring a picnic or eat there, and there are paddle boats you can rent.

If you're around next year you should go to NXNE, the indie music fest. You get a wristband for about $40 (I think) that lets you into a ton of shows over a weekend all over the city. Taste of the Danforth is in August, that is good fun.

Close... a private college near Bathurst and Bloor. I love the Annex as well... and I'll be spending alot of time there!

I don't do the club thing, because I don't drink and parties bores me to death.

I was at the Silver Snail briefly, to give them my resume on a whim, but they were rather... not rude, but just... not very good at public relations. But since I've given up most comics until they print stories worth reading, I probably won't be there again for awhile.

I could always fill you in on what's been happening on Spidey like I used to...:oldrazz:

Oh snap! I live in Jersey but I'm moving to a place around the Toronto area this Summer. It's official, I'm a Canadian citizen! Can't wait :D

you will have to survive the initiation. when you have to dive into a pool of Maple Syrup AND stay in it for 10 minutes.

Oh and you must wear a Toronto Maple Leafs shirt In Downtown ottowa.
And then, a Penguins uniform....

Are you CANUCK enough to do this task? :cmad:

Toronto: When L.A., Chicago, and NYC just are too authentic for the tourist in you.

I havn't been to Toronto in years. Kind of happy about that fact. Though I never did make it out to Planet Kensington before they closed. oohwell.

It's been...geez....almost 20 years since I was in Toronto. Fun city. Really clean for a bigger city, too, surprisingly.
