Revenge of the Fallen The official Transformers:Revenge Of The Fallen movie critics review thread

Only critics and users from foruns bash it.
People outside love it.

I haven't got a problem with you hating it.

I have a problem with you claiming that the haters are the majority. Because it's not true.

i wasn't implying that, or wasn't trying to.....i was trying to say..there are MANY who dont like the film..that's all..

let me put it this way...i think the number of people who didnt like the film may surprise you..not OUT NUMBER THE ONES WHO DID LIKE IT..just be a lot greater then you think..that's all i'm trying to say...

Actually...I agree.
I know I won't be blown away by the story anyway...I'll be there for the robot smashing, because that...I know that will be great.

True.

I also cant stand long movies, with people with long foreign names.....LOTR and The Godfather......cant do it. Just cant.

2 hours of stuff blowing up with little understanding of why gets old.

and just because a movie makes a lot of money doesn't mean most people like it. There are over 250 million active consumers in the United States. It takes only 15% of those people for a movie to be a hit. Hardly "the majority".

Wow. You just named two of the greatest films in history. And you won't watch them because of the running time? Just proves that today's uncultured masses have the attention span of flies. :o

If people stop for a second and ask themselves "what would Optimus Prime do" before they post, we'd probably be rid of mindless quarreling like what's infected parts of this thread.

We're better than this. After all, we're Optimist Prime and not Negatron :P

It's already bombing over at rotten! Just what I thought.... Although I'm sure you fans will love it no matter what.

He/she whatever one you are,if you don't knock it off I will report you if I have to,and if you aren't going to behave fair enough then I suggest you leave this thread and go do something that is actually worth your while. It sounds to me like you got some agenda going by trying to secretly force others to not watch the movie and for them to dismiss it because you're an elitist person who thinks they always know what is best for anyone that isn't you.

I laugh that people think Transformers 2 will have a gripping story with deep character development. This is a popcorn flick with great sfx...that is it. This doesn't try to be anything else or hasn't been anything else so this isn't a decline in quality of the series. This is a movie about giant robots fighting each other. If you can't understand that, then sorry.

I know what I am getting when I go see RoTF next week and I will most likely enjoy the hell out of myself.

For a movie that people like yourself consider dumb and ******ed it's kind of sad you don't understand why there is fighting...hence stuff getting blown up in these films.

Not if it was 3 hours of Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pants.

Were you trying to make a joke?

I wouldn't really call LOTR(any of the three) one of the greatest films in history. More or less, I didn't even enjoy that trilogy.

For a movie that people like yourself consider dumb and ******ed it's kind of sad you don't understand why there is fighting...hence stuff getting blown up in these films.

Exactly. If someone can't figure out why the giant 'bots are fighting, then you must have no clue what Transformers is about.

I'm not going to say majority or minority because I don't know, but the DVD/Blu-Ray sales show that a hell a lot of people like TF.

Most people are not going to buy a movie they don't like. That'd be pretty bloody stupid. :yay:

Transformers is a public's movie. Critics might hate it, but the public will always love it.

And that's great!

i'm not gonna stoop to your level....

Speaking of...

Shouldn't that be "ur" level?

Anyway...on to the rest of this crazy thread.

Re: Prime's fighting...I think Prime was a hell of a warrior in the first movie. He held his own and then some. Megatron was a pretty capable combatant, which is why Prime had trouble with him. It's not like Prime never had trouble with Megatron in other Transformers lore.

He shouldn't win every battle or always have the upper hand because that tends to make for a static, predictable character. It would kill any sense of tension or realism if Prime never took a hit, never looked to be on the ropes, etc.

Without context action scenes lack any suspense or tension and are simply random flashes and noises with nothing at stake.

Which action sequences in TRANSFORMERS were devoid of context?

There is something at stake. There always has been. The very basic tension is what is supposed to provide the tension of the scene. Now, without a compelling story, the action scenes might be slightly less relevant to the actual plot (depending on the type of action), but to suggest the action scenes have no context...can't agree with that.

Because Jazz spoke ebonics as he attacked Megatron.

Because Jazz looked like Jazz, moved like Jazz, and spoke like Jazz. The movie set up a style of combat that Jazz had, and it featured him using that
throughout the battles.

That certainly wasn't Ironhide bouncing all over the place, and it wasn't Ratchet, or Bumblee, or Prime, and I doubt the Decepticons would attack Megatron.

People, there pretty much never has been, and never will be, a comic book or cartoon movie without wasted potential.

And no one will ever be entirely satisfied with an adaption, even if they lie and pretend to be.

That's just the nature of these adaptions. There will always be something that wasn't addressed, done justice, or that was changed.

And stop generalizing with this "Everyone loved Transformers", "Everyone hated Transformers" nonsense. Who gives a damn? All that should matter is whether enough people liked TRANSFORMERS to warrant a sequel, and more sequels, and stories in general.

2 hours of stuff blowing up with little understanding of why gets old.

You really think the average person doesn't understand the reasons and context of why things are blowing up? Really?

Box office/blue ray sales says crap. People always change their minds on movies after seeing it a 2nd or 3rd time. I've lost count how many people have said they've bought a movie and found that they didn't like it anymore. Hell, look no further than Star Wars Phantom Menace. People flocked to the theater for that movie. Saw it 5+ times. Sold a ton of DVDs. Now people consider that movie a freakin joke.

Because cinema gets better and better. In 30 years, RoTF will likely be seen as mediocre.

Tons of people flocked to see Phantom Menace because it had Star Wars in the title and it has a HUGE fan base and everyone thought the new trilogy would capture what they loved about the original trilogy. It didn't, so now fans whine about it.
