same here, in my head it looked amazing but when i actually got to make the scenes i wanted it was slower than i expected and shorter
i still love it though

I don't know if it's the right thread, but there's only one part that I thought the theatrical cut was superior to the director's cut. The transition from Rorschach to the first Holis-Danny scene. The scene with the cops, what the hell was that all about ? It was stupid and pointless.

Also, Rorchach =/= The Phantom. :woot:

Zach explained that, he wanted to add something that wasnt in the GN.
i thought it was cool but unnecessary

Yeah, that was a bit of a strange addition, cool scene, but a bit unneccessary, only extra scene of the DC that I didnt 'appreciate' (I dont wanna say didnt like as it was cool scene).

In the DC though, Rorschach is even more amazing, as is JEH's performance, although to be honest, no one in the movie dissapointed me.

Yeah, that Rorschach scene is confusing, it could have worked if he wasn't shot at.

Anyone seen the Ultimate cut? How does the Black Freighter stuff look weaved into the movie?

I just got it for Christmas and really like it. Not sure how I would feel about the BF scenes had I not read the graphic novel though.

For people unfamiliar with the GN I think the Director's Cut is the best version.

It's a great DVD set otherwise...my only gripe is that the Digital copy is the Theatrical version of the movie. It would be perfect if that was the DC version.

I dont have the DVD yet, but i got a $30 gift card fot HMV. Which version should I buy?

Hmm alright. On he HMV website, it only has the single disc and the special 2 disc edition.

But I'll see. Im contemplating whether to get that or Season 1 of Secret diary of a Call Girl.

yea dont get those 2, since you have a dvd player. the ultimate edition is where to go

I already own the Dc and Tc, but I do love the book, is the UC worth the extra purchase?

im holding the UC off for a while, once it gets cheaper on Amazon then ill get it.

Considering you have both the Dc and Tc it's hard for me to suggest purchasing another version of the film to you (since I loathe studios double and triple dipping). If you are just a huge fan and a completist then go for it I guess. If you can catch it on sale it packs alot of value for the price.

I held out for this set alone and hadn't picked up any of the other versions...to my surprise it went on sale for around $25 and my wife quickly grabbed it up for me as a stocking stuffer.

Do you already own the Black Freighter/Under the Hood DVD or Motion Comic as well though?

No, dont own BF or UTH just the 2 versions of the movie itself., have seen UTH on the internet and thought it was great.

I loved the Watchmen film, although felt some scenes were not needed in the film like the sex scenes between Owlman and Spectre but its cool still an awesome movie.

Thought this was an interesting newsbit for the Watchmen fans...

Scientists push "Doomsday Clock" back a minute

NEW YORK
Fri Jan 15, 2010 5:45am EST
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Scientists pushed back the hands on the symbolic Doomsday Clock by one minute citing hopeful developments in nuclear weapons and climate change.
Science | Green Business
The symbolic clock that shows how close mankind is to self-annihilation was moved back to six minutes before midnight from five minutes on Thursday.
The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, which maintains the clock and puts an illustration of it on its cover, attributed the move to efforts by world leaders to reduce their countries' nuclear arsenals and collaborate on climate stabilization.
The group, which includes 19 Nobel laureates, said a key to the "new era of cooperation is a change in the U.S. government's orientation toward international affairs brought about in part by the election of (U.S. President Barack) Obama."
Nuclear physicist Pervez Hoodbhoy at news conference held at the New York Academy of Sciences overlooking the World Trade Center site, said there had been "a shift in world opinion" recognizing that nuclear weapons are "no longer useful to fight wars and are not effective as deterrence."
BAS board member Lowell Sachnoff added, "Global warming is more of a threat than nuclear war."
When the clock was created in 1947, it was set at 7 minutes to midnight. It has been adjusted only 18 times before Thursday' move. The last was in 2007, when the BAS moved it forward by two minutes citing North Korea's test of a nuclear weapon, Iran's nuclear ambitions and a renewed U.S. emphasis the military utility of nuclear weapons.
