Iron Man 2 The Official Whiplash Thread

I believe this absolutely means that we will see Dynamo in the movie, at least in the climax.

I don't know about that. In the Spider-Man games he fights a lot of villains not in the film.

right, but the fact that you have a character called Ivan Vanko, who is described as creating armor to battle Iron Man, and now these scenes from the video game? All signs point to CD.

I don't know about that. I mean, this is how it would have to be.

He mixes Whiplash AND CD???????

Article just got posted in the VG thread saying CD isn't in the movie.

What a bummer, man. I hope that the armor he does wear is at least Dynamo-esque, if not just using the name.

Well, we have only seen a couple of pictures. Maybe we'll get a glimps of CD in a teaser or trailer.

I think that is pretty much the case. I believe the article that confirmed Rourke's involvement also confirmed it as well.

I read on another Movie Board I go too that some guy read Rourke basically confirmed a mix of the two.

If their not throwing CD in the mix then there is absolutely no reason to call Roarke's character Ivan Vanko. They'd have just called him Mark Scarlotti.

Maybe Rourke can't do an Italian-American accent... j/k

I do hope that Rourke's character is upgraded in the film, so that we get a kick ass aerial battle. IM v. Monger in the first film didn't have any high-flying acrobatics or dog-fighting, and was mostly a ground battle. So building on Whiplash's tech to a full-blown CD'esque suit, would be very desireable in my book.

I actually was hoping for a couple of different Hammer outfitted baddies (Mach 1, Blizzard, Whiplash / Blacklash, Spymaster) as a means to demonstrate that Hammer is trying to take the weapons industry to the next level... Then he does a big reveal of a CD or TM type of character in the end (for the big dog-fight), when Tony realizes that he has to shut Hammer down from arming the world with hi-tech stuff.

This is one of the reasons I've said I sure hope Hammer gets through the film intact. I want him back in IM3.

Hammer is the ultimate "useful villain" because his primary job is to enable other villains.

Absolutely... He can be a deal-maker with secret groups (AIM, HYDRA, 10-rings)... he can provide muscle to bad-guys (Skull, Zemo, Madam Masque)... He can be a constant background player.

Iron Man 3 with Mandarin, Justin Hammer and Spymaster, then?

That'd be a good idea. But I'd want Spymaster only if BW turns out NOT to be a true villain in IM2. Otherwise the evil-spy thing could get overplayed. I don't think we'll get Madame Masque in Fav's run(though she could easily fit in), but at some point I do want to see her show up.

I thought she wasn't a villain....

BW? In the main Marvel universe she started out as one and then became one of the good guys. In the Ultimate universe she was eventually revealed to have been a villain all along.

She looks to be suspect in the photos... as she is apparently a secretary kind of person in a dress, handling files. And of course, we see the other pix with the spy get-up.

Black Widow infiltrates Hammer's organization by Nick Fury's request, and infiltrates Stark Industries by Hammer's request. She's a hero disguised as a villain disguise as hero.
