Well I suppose a gimp mask is more fetish and therefore more of a taboo. A big blue dong is just awkward and makes people feel insecure.

Comedian did not wear his gimp mask in Watchmen and the film was a disappointment.

Whiplash wore a gimp mask. Mickey Rourke is playing Whiplash. So Mickey Rourke as Whiplash should wear a gimp mask.

WHY? BECAUSE I WANT TO FREAKING SEE ACTING POWERHOUSE MICKEY ROURKE PLAYING A GIMP MASK WEARING SUPERVILLAIN!

Critics and audiences disagree. The only version of The Comedian that's perfect is the comic version. The one that wore a gimp mask.

Noted. But there's still precedence for the character wearing a gimp mask. Not to mention that in the movie the character still has electric whips like in the comics.

In a note on comic Whiplash, while it seemed Marvel's new version was being called ANTON Vanko rather than IVAN Vanko, in order to distance him from the movie version, with Iron Man VS Whiplash #2 this new comic Whiplash's name has been changed to IVAN Vanko. So it seems he's definitely supposed to be the same character that Mickey Rourke is playing in the film after all.

I think its appropriate and a good idea to introduce a Whiplash character in the 616 comics that's more similar to the movies. Especially since you can't trust the Ultimate books to do stuff like that anymore.

That Whiplash is terrible. He has no back story or no character development. His design is cool yeah but, the fight didn't hold any meaning for me.
