Rehearsals began today on Iron Man 2. Three weeks from shooting and my life is no longer my own. I forgot how overwhelming this process is.

Does anyone know who exactly Rourke is supposed to be playing in "Iron Man II?" I know his character is supposed to be a combination of both Whiplash and Crimson Dynamo, but I haven't heard what they are calling his character exactly. I like the idea of combining both characters, and think Rourke will do justice in the role. I'm just curious as to what he will be called, exactly.

Good to hear. Also, given Mickey Rourke's past and how he walked away from other roles, does anyone wonder if he could leave this project? He seems to have a full slate of films on the horizon, and given how intense this role could be, I could definitely see some confronations on the set occurring.

No, I don't think he will, either. It is a role which would probably bring him back on top, a role that most people will have access to, unlike 'The Wrestler.' I just wonder whether he really has put his self righteous past behind him. He has a history of leaving projects in which some of the roles were tailor-made for him.

I'd have thought if they are combining Crimson Dynamo and Whiplash as is rumoured, one of the main reasons would be so there is no need for Rourke to have a hokey Russian accent, and downplay the cold war origins in favour of something different (rival weapons company would make sense, with Justin Hammer in IM2 also). Though maybe he can do a Russian accent, I don't know!

I had heard this also, and found this in a google search.

It's from the Iron Man:Armored Adventures cartoon, but it could be the direction their heading in.

Doubtful. Its pretty busy, and quite anime inspired (as is the show I believe)

If its true it'll be Whiplash becomes pilot of Dynamo, than I would expect a much simpler, low tech, stream lined look for Whiplash to counter the bulky metal suit that is to come.
