Iron Man 2 The Official Whiplash Thread

Regarding the exposed skin. It could be possible that the whips are used to defended/deflect the attacks from Iron Man.

I hope not. The design is great, but I doubt Favs is going to step into a world where whips can deflect bullets.

Luke Cage is his father! That must be it!

Dude was all covered up with some type of bullet-proof cloth or something in the comics, right?

I suppose that if he ONLY attacks Stark as Stark, I'll be okay...

Is there a Whiplash "reboot" coming in the comics?
I think it'll happen, but it didn't for Iron Monger so who knows.

Unless it's not 616 then I'd say it'll be more along the lines of someone new assuming the Whiplash persona rather than a retcon of the original character or something like that.

Yeah, that's what I meant...sorta. That or the original returning from the dead & being more like Rourke's version.

I pray to Joe Pesci that this is the final design.

Heres what I have that supports the idea of this being the final design
- Favreau confirmed that the suit would get better and financed by Hammer
- The suit would translate very well onscreen
- The miniseries just so happens to be around in the same time Iron Man 2 is and has the same villain.
- It looks very similar to the prototype suit, and could easily go over top of it.
- I don't see why they wouldn't do it? Movies can do anything and that design would be easy to create digitally and with the costume designers.

I wouldn't mind some design ques being similar. Mainly the faceplate and the whips being projected from the wrists. Otherwise, I think the final suit should be an actual armor with some crimson red decals painted on.

Well that suit is almost completely armored. For the movie they could/should just fill in the gaps with additional armor.

The faceplate remind me of Vega from "StreetFighter".

I was on Marvel's website and saw these same pics. I think Whiplash's final armor could definately end up looking very close to this. It even has the arc reactor in the chest plate.

Heres are the pics shown in the article.

Interesting. Its a very cool design yet it lacks a lot of practicality, especially if he is going against Tony who has a full covering prosthetic.

Not even sure it will be similar to its movie counterpart. Maybe it'll be completely different.

Iron Man vs Whiplash

Whiplash mystery (concept) Design

Some parts of it I dont like.
Whats the point of only one shoulder being protected when both arms have weapons?
Then there is the points that protrude from the forearm. While they look cool, the have no practical use. They would not work as a stabilizer in flight.
When this guy is making his armor/weapon I doubt he is thinking "this is gonna look so frikkin awesome!"

I agree. His hair is even similar to how Rourke has it in the movie.

^^^ Plus, the solicits for that comic say it's In conitnuity with the movie!

So yeah, definitely think that's close...

As I now, in solicits they meant the 616 continuity, not the movie one. They also said, that this new mini-series (Iron Man vs. Whiplash) were created to introduce new Whiplash to those (new) Marvel readers, who didn't had a chance to know the old one (Mark Scarlotti).

The solicit reads that it's an "in-continuity lead-in to the Iron Man 2 movie"

If they meant in comic continuity, that's awfully misleading

wouldnt it be badass if this was the final armor for Whiplash
