Hey, here is something that might be worth checking out - The organizers of these events most likely would have had to get a permit. In this day of Homeland Security they want to know anytime more than about a few dozen people want to get together in an organized way. I am sure to get the permit you would have to provide notice to any affected businesses at least 24 hours in advance, as well as provide some Security, some First Aid, and list what your intentions are, show you have adequate parking, an assembly area big enough, etc....

More importantly you would most likely have to list any routes you are going to take if you assemble in an area and then start marching around. Nobody will put up with a 300+ people mob assembling in an area, and then starting to march around wherever they please - you got traffic to worry about, peoples property, etc..... Especially if they all dress alike and are wearing matching face paint (think gang related activity).

So if The Oracles want to start on some prep work, this might be a place to start. Public Records searches might help, or if you know someone who works in a County office in your area maybe they can tell you what to look for. If anyone gets anything going on this post it here so the other cities can look in similar location for similar documents.

A fair enough thought but permits for such things are not 42E's style. I don't think they'd intentionally overstep the law, but first of all, 42E knows that if documents are outwardly linked to their company and we know they're running the game, we will find them. Second, 42E is not a big company--probably too far under the radar to get multiple permits for something like that. Third, this would not be the first time game players have been on the wrong side of the law simply because...they look shifty. The Dentmobiles regularly got broken up by cops, and I know some people at Dent rallies were nearly arrested.

But it wouldn't defeat the purpose. Most of the Oracles plan to be in different places as well--I don't think any of us are relying wholly on the boards. That is, of course, not to mention the fact that it's conceivable two people could complete this game without any chats or SHH.



Anyway, I mainly wanted to post and say for the Chicago people, my AIM is MakesYouStranger, so if you at any point can't get into the Speakeasy or something, then I'll be online and help you out (unless something crazy happens to me as well...let us knock on wood and hope not).


Please...everyone make sure you've got this and hopefully at least one other Chicago person's AIM, and we should all presumably be connected enough to jump through communication platforms lest any begin to fail us.

Oh, and uh, Andrizzle sent me a PM that made me aware of this situation, so I went to the Wiki and worked this out thanks to what Anita had posted there.

There are essentially four sets of games. I cannot work out GMT for the life of me, but it seems that the three North American sets go like so:

5:30 P.M. EST: Boston, Philadelphia, New York, Toronto
6:30 P.M. EST: Chicago, Dallas, Kansas City
7:30 P.M. EST: Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco

I think that's right. Correct me if I'm wrong...occasionally I get confused by time zones because in Arizona we don't do Daylight Savings, so.

Since I think they expect the game to last an hour in each location, it's conceivable that Oracles could help three times over.

I mean, I think at this point probably all of us Oracles are spoken for in a primary sense, but nevertheless, I'm sure we could all be useful a number of times without having to work simultaneously. So, if anybody's willing to show up early/stick around late, we can provide more Oracles for those who need more Oracles. Last time I heard, SF had like 12 Goons and 1 Oracle, and although that has probably changed since last time I heard, the point is that it appears the Goon : Oracle ratio on the West Coast is overwhelming. I know I'll try and help with all three of those sets for whoever seems the most in need of my services, although my priority 1 is gonna be with Chicago.

I encourage other Oracles to do the same!

Ummm, well Dallas might be a problem then, because the police are regularly arresting people who are breaking their Parade and Assembly Permit laws, and it is making the news. I am talking mothers and students in recent ones, so I don't think they will have any qualms about clowns. One thing to spontaneously asssemble, but another thing entirely to put a web invite out with a three day notice.

Even planning to commit a crime is a crime in Texas, as with most places.

Hey Guys-- after dialing my phone about 1300 times in 4 hours with nothing to show for it last week, I needed a little vacation, but I'm back and would love to help out with this.

So now if you head over to the Speakeasy you will note an IRC Chat button in the top right corner that will take you to a web-based IRC Client. Or, if you you're handy with IRC you can use the client of your choice for more dynamic logging control and features. The room is #speakeasy on the DarkMyst network.

This will be a different chat than the main Flashchat link on the right side above all the links. Flashchat is a smaller on-the-fly app and I don't think the two can be integrated, BUT this too can be web-based so it's all good.

I'd like to treat the IRC room as more of a functional game-information hub, in the spirit of Oracle, so for the fun, social casual stuff let's keep that in the flashchat. Heck, if you're up for it pop two tabs and hang around in both.

I've informed my Goon and he's telling others to have their Bonds from the packages with them the day of just in case the "bonding" is related. I also think that if possible the Oracles should have some copies at the ready. We may have to be reading through them with a fine tooth comb for answers......or a red herring.haha.

I was trying to get a few people from AZ together for a drive over to the LA event. So far most are unable to go, and I definitely don't want to make the drive by my self. In the likely event no one else gets to me and says they want to go, I will be on the computer all day and would certainly be willing to be an oracle. I agree that it should be possible for someone to work for the east coast, then for the central or west coast people.

If I am not on the road at the time yours goes down, I will be happy to help. PM me your number. Anyone else, it says these things will take "about an hour", and I am thinking the last 10-20 minutes will probably be getting people into the auditorium to see the preview. Therefor, I bet in each location we have roughly 45-50 minutes of problem solving, followed by a 10 minute break. Therefor, anyone else looking for an oracle, PM me. Anyone looking to go to LA from AZ, also PM me so I can know today whether I am going or staying.

Don't think I haven't thought about it! Unfortunately the last time I made a 4+ hour drive each way, it was a near disaster. After all, with no one to talk to, and such a long day going to and from, it can be quite a challenge just staying awake, let alone making good time and enjoying one's self.
