Speaking of ducks, I'm going to be the ugly duckling here...
Although the series seems perfectly realized, Colin Farrell still seemingly perfect in this role, and Cristin Milioti promising a charismatic and troubled Sofia Falcone, I just can't get myself hyped for the show as much as I thought I would. And I'll feel almost guilty about it. 😅
I'm perfectly fine with the show going more for a "gangster drama" than a pure "comic-book" approach, but at the same time I don't find in these trailer the
pulpy vibe that gave
The Batman its charm.
I mean, in the film, you had this guy dressed head-to-toe in leather bat costume, a masked serial-killer doing riddles, and so on. Here, I almost feel a reluctance to iconize the Penguin.
I know they probably have a few surprises in store here that might give me that flavor again
(Clayface?), but as it stands, the more I see, the more
generic the series seems...
(it may sound harsher than intended)
Again, I'm not talking about the actual quality of the series, but the intent behind it.
... Oh well, I'll watch it anyway.
