Speaking of ducks, I'm going to be the ugly duckling here...
Although the series seems perfectly realized, Colin Farrell still seemingly perfect in this role, and Cristin Milioti promising a charismatic and troubled Sofia Falcone, I just can't get myself hyped for the show as much as I thought I would. And I'll feel almost guilty about it. 😅

I'm perfectly fine with the show going more for a "gangster drama" than a pure "comic-book" approach, but at the same time I don't find in these trailer the pulpy vibe that gave The Batman its charm.
I mean, in the film, you had this guy dressed head-to-toe in leather bat costume, a masked serial-killer doing riddles, and so on. Here, I almost feel a reluctance to iconize the Penguin.
I know they probably have a few surprises in store here that might give me that flavor again (Clayface?), but as it stands, the more I see, the more generic the series seems... (it may sound harsher than intended)

Again, I'm not talking about the actual quality of the series, but the intent behind it.


... Oh well, I'll watch it anyway.

I’ve been reading the first trade for Tom King’s Penguin series. Obviously going to be very different stories, but he really is a vicious little bastard in this comic. Hope to see Farrell develop a bit of that in the show.

That poster is incredible. Again, gives me huge Boardwalk Empire vibes. Also, even though I don't smoke, watching people smoke on film and TV just looks...cool!

Having an Italian background, I immediately chuckled to myself because we say it as a toast, usually at Birthdays.

Just as a side note, the press definitely got screeners and I wouldn't be surprised if it was the first 4 episodes. That's why the names and titles leaked.

Well, I saw the Penguin sneak peek. disapointing, but they showed A LOT of footage. mostly surprised by how good it looks. the rain, the car scenes, all the wide shots are so nice.

From what I can gather, the sneak peek looks to just be a behind-the-scenes featurette kind of thing, so if anyone was expecting full scenes, I could probably understand a bit of disappointment.

Still. Looks good IMO.
