We always hear about flawed films. A film can be good, great, but not perfect. . . at least that's according to critics.

In your opinion, what are the criteria for a perfect film? In modern times, is it possible to create a film like that?

Nothing is perfect.

There is also the fact that what some people see as 'perfect' could be garbage to others.

People are so different and so are their tastes. I doubt there'll ever be a movie everyone will love. There's no such thing as the perfect movie.

It's already been made:

There are atleast 2 films I think are perfect in every way, being Goodfellas and One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. But then, someone else might not agree with that. So, is it possible to make a film that everyone loves? Ofcourse not. Sorry to use a cliché, but opinions differ and they always will.

I voted yes. Not saying it's been done, but I think you could say yes. I think, though, that you have to look for an overwhelmingly positive opinion, not necessarily a unanimous opinion. A perfect film would also have to be technically perfect, both in the manner in which it's shot and its story. Casting/acting, direction, sound/music, etc, would all have to be top notch. It's possible, but not probable.

A perfect film is one that draws you in, tells a clear story, does not treat the audience as an idiot, lacks any real plot holes and ultimately fulfills the criteria of entertainment and enlightenment.

there are plenty of perfect films, most of them are short though. This one comes to mind when i hear a perfect story.

It could be possible. Films get made that nearly 95% of people love...then you got other 5% *****e bags who just want to hate a film.

"The Godfather" is often said to be a perfect film

("Once upon a time in America" is another one IMO)

The ending to the Godfather is one of my favorites: A wife asks her husband not to lie to her and then asks about his potential involvement with unsavory people. He lies to her and w/in minutes of leaving the room, she physically sees the proof of the lie.

Great stuff imo.

Great point. I agree with you. I do feel that it is possible to create, but I feel that it's not possible to accept - by all parties.

There will never be a perfect film. At least 1 person will gripe.

I voted no, because it's true, everyone is entitled too their own opinion, and everyone always have diff. opinions. Examples: Read critic reviews, while most of them are on the same page, there's always a few that aren't. I believe there are nearly perfect movies though.

There are 6 billion people on this planet. It will never happen. The only opinion that matters is your own.

Many have been made, if you discount the fact that technology is always advancing and cg shots/prosthetics will eventually become outdated and laughable

No. There's no such thing as perfect film for everybody. Someone might find ''Catwoman" to be the perfect film, but hate ''Godfather."

The thing is there's always going to be people who like/hate a film. No film is ever going to please everyone.

In my opinion Aliens and The Dark Knight are both perfect films but I am sure some people will disagree.
