Inglorious Basterds is almost here. For Tarantino fans we've been hearing about this movie for a long time and its finally coming out. Tarantino has had one hell of a career. Though he is criticized for taking other director's ideas and improving upon them he still knows how to work the actors, camera, and most importantly his script. My favorite of his is the Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair. I know it hasnt come out yet, but both Kill Bill's together are the perfect combination for a revenge saga and I love both films for different reasons. His masterpiece however is Pulp Fiction. Getting a nomination and winning the Cannes Film Festival's top prize it showed critics and fans alike that Tarantino is the real deal.

So what is your favorite films of his and explain why.

Damn, this is tougher than I thought. What is most surprising is how much a great film like Pulp Fiction is even struggling to win out the top spot for me.

You know, I love them all, but Jackie Brown works for me in a special way, so I'm going with it today.

Tomorrow? Who knows?

hahah i know exactly what you mean. It is a tough decision because they are all kind of different in a way, even though all of them are dialogue driven films. Jackie Brown is a classic.

Definitely a close-call between Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. Reservoir Dogs takes it though

Pulp Fiction takes the cake in my book, that movie redefined the way I look at filmmaking.

Reservior Dogs is a close second; I think that the overall story is actually better than PF, but I still have to give PF the edge for originality.

I never made it all the way through Jackie Brown. I need to give that movie another shot.

I thought Kill Bill Vol. 1 was fun, for a movie without much of a story. Kill Bill Vol. 2 I hated though; I felt that it tried to tell a story that wasn't there.

Death Proof was the worst part of Grindhouse... other than the scenes with Kurt Russell, the film was pretty much a waste of time.

Really looking forward to Inglorious Basterds.

Aw man you hated Vol. 2? oh well i guess its not for everyone. I enjoyed both films as a whole because Vol. 1 you get most of the action and Vol. 2 you get most of the story and conclusion.

Reservoir Dogs with Pulp Fiction right behind it.

ive seen all of them but i kinda give an edge to kill bill

either reservoir dogs or kill bill. i could have maybe gone with pulp fiction, but i think i've watched it too many times.

Yeah, I didn't have a problem with toning down the violence a bit in Vol. 2; my gripe was that once the violence was removed, there really wasn't much there that I found very interesting. I know that Tarantino has a tendency to include scenes where the main characters discuss random stuff that has almost nothing to do with the actual plot, and it usually works pretty well. But in Kill Bill and Death Proof, I felt like the technique was a applied simply because Tarantino didn't have much of a story to tell.

I will agree with you that it was a simple story, barely any subplots or variables, but i thought the performances, flashbacks, and the conclusion was entertaining enough to fill in those areas. Bills comparison of Kiddo to Superman was supreme script writing and then providing a flashback as the transition to the conclusion was a great choice. Tarantino didnt really have that much of a story to tell because it was just a Revenge/Love Story, but he did it in such an extravagant way i dont see another Revenge flick coming close to the Kill Bills

If it doesn't have to be a movie he directed I will say Natural Born Killers.

1. N.B.K.
2. Pulp Fiction
3. True Romance
4. Dusk Til Dawn
5. Sin City (he did some scenes)
6. Reservoir Dogs
7. Kill Bill Vol. 1
8. Jackie Brown

If its only by the ones he directed (and only by him)...

1. Pulp Fiction
2. Reservoir Dogs
3. Jackie Brown
4. Kill Bill Vol. 1

Oh, what, you didn't like Punisher: War Zone? :woot:

In all seriousness though, I have seen other revenge flicks (or films that deal with revenge) that I found more intriguing. Oldboy is fantastic. Payback is pretty cool. Taken is good (not exactly a revenge movie, but still falls into this category). To some degree, Martyrs is a revenge film (at least the first part is, and it trumps anything in Kill Bill, IMO).

Tarantino was suppose to direct natural born killers but then a studio burned down with all his reels in it. Natural Born Killers was still an incredible films but i still wonder how Tarantino would of handled it if he directed it and not Oliver Stone.

DEFINITELY check out Martyrs. I'd say it's more of a horror film than anything else, so if you're at all squeamish, I wouldn't recommend it. Basically, it's the movie Eli Roth wishes he had the balls to make.

OH **** i gotta check this out! calling out Eli Roth is fun cause he seriously sucks. Im kind of angry that Tarantino put him in Inglorious Basterds. Thats the problem with Quentin. He surrounds himself with overrated directors such as Eli and Robert Rodriguz. Both of them i dislike, i didnt even reallly like Planet Terror. Nothing impressed me at the least bit.

Eli Roth is seriously becoming like Tarantino, because he talks and talks about all these projects and nothing gets done. Meanwhile, he's distracted now because he's mixing directing with acting, just like Quintin.
