The Photography Thread - Part 1

Nice wildlife shots!

Without further ado, since it's been a heck of a long time...

Shot this on Sunday, and haven't really shot in like 4 months.

JaD,

Where are you at? Living wise, I mean. Do ya work at White Sands or NASA?

Shane,

The last two seem a little out of focus, but that last one was pretty clear and very pretty location. If ya wanna try the water effect, you can bump up your F Stop a few, and lower the shutter to get that blur effect. Also, ISO lower can play an effect too. If ya do a lot of landscape, or things like that a good investment is ND filters, or Circular Polarizer.

Here is a few more I did on Sunday with another model from a local town that isn't to far from us. One is a little two reveling for Hype rules I'm sure, despite they are covered. I will be shooting another senior this Sunday, but sounds like the mom is going to be crazy. =/

Thanks for the tips.

I'm still a bit new to this. Yes that stream is a very pretty one indeed.

Heh, maybe in a dream I was working at NASA :hehe: I work at TiVo in Alviso, CA. I live in the Bay Area, closer to Hayward and Union City.

The Endeavour was a big thing going on in the Bay Area yesterday, very exciting too. There's a NASA station or something close to where I work too so I'm not surprised it came so close to us since I guess there was a viewing party over there.

Your welcome, I'm still a noob! So don't feel bad, and don't feel afraid to ask for that's the only way you can learn, read, and execute!

Yeah, it was a pretty big thing here to since I live near White Sands Missile Range (WSMR). I wasn't sure if you put it up delayed or not since it flew really, really low here as well. It was a really cool sight to behold, tho!

Here is another senior I did end up shooting today, and getting eating alive totally. Not the best work I've done due to getting blood sucked. =/

Great shots Alistair.

The girl thumbing reminds me of a 70's horror film for some season.

Wow it's been a week since I last visited this site and you guys posted some amazing work here. Good job guys :)

Hi everyone. I just wanted to announce that I finally got myself my own digital SLR. I purchased it used at around 1/4 or 1/5 of the original market price.

Nikon D2X

I've already started testing it. Of course, the image quality isn't as good as the D7000 at higher ISO levels. But will do me well for current purposes.

Midnyte_Sun: My slr has a feature where you can edit pics right away. :) BTW that eagle shot is so stunning, I hope we have those here in my country.

You have even prettier eagles in your country. The Philippine eagle is amazing. I took those shots at an avian refuge and I'm sure you have one somewhere near you if you look hard enough.

Still got it man :)

Welcome to the thread and nice shots! Love to see more of this area.

Thanks thal & Midnyte for the compliments, I love your nighttime shot as well, I remember nighttime photography being a nightmare (pun intended? Ha) the first time I tried it (even though some shots came out nice). I’d also love to get some shots of birds like that Midnyte. I like the bird with the Mohawk :hehe:

I love night time photography! I just wish I had my camera and tripod for every opportunity. Love your SF shots, that's awesome you live so close to SF and got to see the space shuttle overhead! You're also right about kids making some shots truly special. Alistair knows all too well about that ;)

Last night I noticed a moon ring outside. That's basically like a rainbow halo (moonbow) around the moon caused by ice crystals in the upper atmosphere. I tried to bracket the shot, but I had a hard time putting them together for an HDR. Instead I just edited one of the shots in Lightroom. Lots of noise reduction and basic presets (vibrance & temp) used to show the halo rainbow ring.

Cool. Since I've been in Australia I haven't witnessed any moon rings.

Here's one of the test images from my recently bought DSLR:

Great start with a great camera. I expect lots of good shots in this thread soon :)

Just took this less than an hour ago...more autumn shots coming tomorrow.

Midnyte_Sun Nice shot as usual :)

Red Mask I love the beach so much, any beach shots makes me sad and excited.

Here are some of my "street photography shots", this is my first time doing this.

Great street shots man. I need to do some of that, but I feel a little awkward taking photos of people in public places...w/o seeming creepy.

How did you get that shot of the city? That's an awesome shot.

One of he many photos from my trip from Alaska.

Nice iceberg shot, was this from a cruise ship? My friend just recently went on a similar trip and got to see the icebergs, whales, and even hike up some mountain. Alaska is any photography lover's dream.

Haha yeah, I have a lot more shots of it but this is the jewel of it. Ever since taking pictures on this trip I've been fascinated with photography.

Midnyte,

Nice colours on those fall shots! Fantastic, IMO!

xMaNiAx,

Welcome and keep up the good work!

Here is my latest installment....

A senior I shot tonight. Forgot how hard it is to shoot at night, literally (Just for the focus issues alone). Ended up using two flash's for this one so I had some of a rim light and didn't lose all the detail to blackness.

Need to do some landscape now, with those kinds of colors, Midnyte_Sun.
