The "Pitch a Movie" Thread

You know, that could work now that I think about it :o

Two single guys who, in their spare time, attend weddings uninvited so that they can hook up with women. One of the guys starts to fall for one of the bridesmaids and the other hooks up with the daughter of a politican (or something. Still not sure about that part). They get invited to the families house for the weekend and hijinks ensue. Soon, the guys have realized that they've met their match in their respective love interests and give up their philandering ways.

:funny: that sounds like it could make a good comedy

A dark, gritty and realistic adaption of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar!"
Based on a script by David S Goyer
Directed by Christopher Nolan

A biblical epic:

Many years ago, the Lord decided that humanity was evil and must be done away with...so he planned a massive flood to kill everyone. However, one man named Noah was deemed worthy, so the Lord warned him to gather up his family and pairs of every animal into an ark, so they could survive the storm and repopulate the earth. The flood comes and Noah and his family tend to the animals. After 40 days, he sets loose a dove to see if it will find land. After a bit, he sees it flying back, with an olive branch in its mouth. Then...just as it is about to land back on the ark...a giant shark leaps out of the ocean and eats it. The shark then attacks the boat, tearing away at the wood and killing entire species of animals (such as the dinosaurs). Noah must then struggle to reach land before the shark kills his entire family and extinguishes all land life on earth. Ladies and gentlemen...I give you...Noah's Shark.

:pal:

You've totally got to pitch that one to Asylum! I can seriously see them actually making that!

:lmao:

I'm not in the movie biz...wouldn't know where to start...but I'll tell you this...I truly believe that people would watch Noah's Shark. A friend of mine was asking how some company could capitalize on stuff like Sharknado etc, and the idea hit me. I know that I would rent the hell out of a goofy, fun DVD like this.

Ron Perlman and Tom Waits are two long lost brothers that reconnect in their old age.

Building a Pyre:

When the continent of Norskavia becomes engulfed in a series of wars fought for various reasons, including religious, dynastic, territorial and commercial rivalries, Sarkun Grasjakal feels a sense of vindication for his cowardice as one of the shaman in the elite Igniter's Firebolts. Amidst the firing, looting and raping, Sarkun sees a chance to seize control of the Firebolts through martial and scientific revolution. However, the price of Sarkun's ambition, laid bare for him in the fallout of what will be called the Nineteen Years' War, will bring him face to face with the greatest Tyrant that Norskavia has ever known.

Naked Island

A magical island burns off the clothes of anyone who sets foot on it.

Starring Scarlett Johansson, Christina Hendricks, Alison Brie, Kate Upton, Jennifer Lawrence, Rosario Dawson, Hayley Atwell, Kat Dennings, Sofía Vergara and Helen Mirren as The Queen of Naked Island.
Quite possibly the best post ever :word:

Considering today's date, I thought I'd pitch this . . .

Friday The 13th Part 13: Survivors
Ginny Fields (Amy Steele), Paul Holt (John Furey), Chris Higgins (Dana Kimmel), Tommy Jarvis (Corey Feldman), his sister Trish Jarvis (Kimberly Beck), Reggie The Reckless (Shavar Ross) and Pam from "The New Beginning", Megan (Jennifer Cooke) from "Jason Lives", and Tina Shepherd (Lar Park Lincoln) and Nick from "The New Blood" are all part of a support group for Crystal Lake survivors. Their therapist takes them all out to the ruins of Camp Crystal Lake so that they can face their demons head on. Not far away, a group of horny teens are partying in the woods (smoking pot, drinking beer, and having lots and lots of wild crazy sex). Jason (played by Kane Hodder) shows up and does what he does best. The survivors fight back. Some make it, some don't. Eventually Jason is defeated (hopefully) once and for all. Maybe put his body through a wood chipper, douse the mulched remains with gasolene, light then on fire, then flush the ashes down the toilet (I challenge any Hollywood writer to write him back into existence after THAT).

That's actually pretty good. I would say lets make a Freddy Vs Jason sequel with survivors from previous Jason and Freddy movies teaming up to take down Freddy and Jason once and for all. Think a horror style Avengers movie.

That would be an adaptation of Freddy vs Jason vs Ash, which wasn't that great of a comic.

My idea is more of the survivors looking to get over their fears, then being confronted by those fears in the rotting undead flesh. Their therapist probably believes that their attacker wasn't really Jason, that they were each attacked by a different copycat killer using Pamela Voorhees's old M.O. Kinda like a cross between Tommy's therapist and the Crystal Lake debunker from the "Crystal Lake Massacre Revisited" mocumentary from the Deluxe DVD set (Parts 4 through 6). So he's kind of a d**k, but the survivors have all bonded over their shared experiences. Then when they find out that Jason is still out and about, killing anyone who enters his woods, that's when they team up to take him down.

I'm not in the movie biz either. But that's not stopping me from trying to get my script made.

As for your movie, earlier in this thread someone posted a link to Asylum's website for pitching movie ideas. Since they make so many of those cheesey shark movies (Two Headed Shark Attack, Malibu Shark Attack, Sharknado, etc), I'm sure they'd jump at the chance to make Noah's Shark.

Oh, I don't have a script...it's just a silly idea I had. To be honest, I regret not getting involved in the creative aspects of indie movie making in my youth. I just kind of fell into music, and it worked out, so I used that as my creative outlet (for the record...I sometimes will mention this...I am NOT a musician...I've spent years in publicity, management, booking etc for national acts....and am now kind of the man behind the scenes for a new band). I wouldn't even know where to begin when it comes to writing a script, filming etc. I wish I did. I guess my biggest problem is that...it seems like every time I try to do anything that requires other people...comic art...website design etc...it either ends up being amateurs who never actually do the work, or professionals that cost a fortune.

To be honest, I don't think you even NEED a script to pitch a movie idea to Asylum, just a synopsis (which you have). Might as well log on and give it a shot. Worst that could happen is they say "no".

As for me, I have no formal training in script writing or film making. I never went to film school. I just love to write and have a head full of ideas that I sometimes feel a need to put down on paper. And I'm now trying to turn one of those ideas into a successful Hollywood film. Will it work? I have no idea, but I'm gonna try.

This takes place in 1967 or 68.

A Sci-Fi Action thriller about a spy who is forced to check out and look after NASA, mistakenly discovers about a secret Russian trip to space. Oh, I forgot, this guy loves Space and Star Trek. Upon receiving the news, he takes a trip to Russia and has to work his ass off someway somehow to get to voyage. Finally, he lands on the ship unnoticed. The voyage then checks out more than just the moon, it checks out many planets including Mars. A terrible accident happens killing most the crew members but he survives. He is the first man to have gone to space and come back alive. The U.S. government believes he has betrayed them but he's also sought after by many other nations. So it's an adventure from there.

What do you guys think? I know it might sound absurd.

Would this guy be played by Tom Cruise? :o

Ha! I'd definitely take a look at him. I was thinking Brad Pitt.

Great stuff Thundarr.

I have an idea which I am still working on. It's around 70-100 years in the future and set in San Francisco (because NY is overused :o). All guns have been outlawed and many criminals have resorted to swords and other weapons. The main character is a young latin vigilante detective who is very popular around the community, giving food and money to the poor (which he takes from criminals).

The universe has influences from 1984, Dirty Harry, Dredd, Batman, and Asian culture. All water is privatised and gasoline is gone. That's what I have so far, I have many other interesting side characters and villains. And no, there is no super powers lol.

Holy s**t. This sounds really cool!

A Dungeons & Dragons movie, based on the Saturday morning cartoon.

Six friends go to a newly opened amusement park, Loony Land. They board a Dungeons & Dragons ride. As they're going through the tunnel something happens and they find themselves in a strange land of magic and monsters.

There's Hank, the captain of the high school football team and the team quarterback. He is a very "outdoorsy type", going camping and fishing with his dad. They even go buck hunting with composite bows.

Accompanying him is his best friend, Eric. He's the richest kid in school, with a fleet of sports cars in his garage. He's also on the football team as a running back. He's spoiled and kinda stuck up, but deep down he has a good heart.

Joining them is Sheila, Hank's girlfriend. She's captain of the cheer leading squad, and holds a black belt in karate.

Hank and Sheila set Eric up on a blind date with Sheila's best friend, Diana. Diana is also on the cheer leading squad, and is an expert at twirling the baton. She's also on the gymnastics team and the track & field team. She's especially skilled at the pole vault.

Tagging along is Sheila's little brother Bobby. He's also very athletic, being on both his school's baseball team and wrestling team. His heavy focus on sports caused his grades to begin to slip, so his parents arranged for him to have a tutor.

Bobby's tutor is a boy named Presto, who has a fondness for performing slight of hand tricks and playing D&D, though he is somewhat socially stunted. He and Bobby became close friends, and even play D&D together.

When they arrive in The Realm, they meet a strange little fellow who commands powerful magic and speaks in riddles. He calls himself Dungeon Master. Dungeon Master gifts them each with a magical item of great power.

Hank is given an Energy Bow, capable of firing endless arrows of magical energy which can blast through any armor. Sheila is given a Cloak Of Invisibility, which allows her to attack her enemies unseen. Eric is given a Griffin Shield, capable of summoning an invisible globe of force that can deflect any attack. Diana is given a Javelin Staff, which shrinks or grows as needed, and can be used as a quarterstaff, pole vault, or even thrown as a javelin. Bobby is given the Thunder Club, capable of smashing through stone and causing powerful earthquakes. And Presto is given a Hat Of Spells, capable of conjuring anything it's wielder desires.

The six of them search for a way home, but their path is blocked by the evil wizard Venger and his legions of orc soldiers. When they finally find the way home they have to make a choice. If they go home they will leave the good people of The Realm at the mercy of Venger. But stopping Venger will require that they destroy the portal home. They choose to stop Venger, thus leaving the ending open for many possible sequels.
