Ok Im confused about the ending like almost every other person who saw this movie.
Ok from what people have said Bale had a twin? I thought it was his clone? Didnt Bale went to see Bowie which is why he had a clone, and why Bale gave Jackman bowie name?

I'm pretty sure Borden never went to Tesla. Tesla was only the keyword to his journal, nothing more. Borden had a twin the entire time.

borden did go to Telsa for a machine that would make his act look better. (visual effects created by electricity)

Borden had a twin the entire time, who posed as his assistant. He may or may not have gone to Tesla for visual effects, it's very likely he did though looking at the effects he had. I really dont see what there is to be confused about, they explained it all right f**king there...you people are all falling to the same thing that lead to Angiers downfall, looking for something more than there really is

Because I really wasn't fooled I had it figured out for the most part but not completely. It was still an awesome third act.

Actually,

Tesla's machine teleports the "original" to another place while leaving the clone on the machine.

That's ******ed. Why would you assume it teleports the original, and puts the clone in place of the original? That's like saying a fax machine teleports your paper to someone elses machine, then prints the copy at your place. Of course, in this case the copies are 100% the same, so it really doenst matter. But for all intents and purposes, the machine duplicates him, and puts the copy somewhere else. So the original is the one dropping in to the tank every night, while a clone comes out, only to end up dropping into the tank the next night, as a new clone comes out. The clone is exactly, 100% the same as the original, therefore it could continue to live out as Robert Angier with all his memories and everything.

Hi, I'm new here. I just saw this on the weekend and loved it, but there's one part that I'm not sure if I missed or wasn't explained.
When Borden tied the knot for Angier's wife, which knot did he die? I noticed that he switched to a different knot. So did he actually forget which one he tied or was he lying to Angier those times he kept asking him? Was it all just an accident then on his part?
I hope you guys can clear that up! :yay:

the borden at the funeral was the one that didn't tie the knot, so he really didn't know.

yeah, it was his twin who tied the knot.

And that was also the Borden that was shot by Angier? Then it's never explained why the other Borden tied that knot?

yeah, i guess.

So in essence,
Borden was telling the truth when he said he didn't know what knot it was.

Exactly!

Well the 2 brothers shares everything.

So the other should know what knot the other brother tied.

Anyways..

Tesla thought his invention was evil and want it destroyed.

Was it his idea to have Angier kill off his duplicates for some larger reason???

Because when Angier first did this trick...out of nowhere his duplicate killed him with a gun or vice versa.

Why would he do that on the first try??

Or did he just instinctly know that HE HAS To kill himself??

Angier is not a cold blooded killer...to killl himself like that on the first try doesn't make sense.

Unless it was on Tesla's instructions that he has to do that or the duplicate would kill him instinctively.

I don't remember....but was the cat trying to kill off it's duplicate??

What would you do if there were two of you suddenly?

I saw it last night....I really liked it. It's definately a movie you should see twice. You'll definately pick up on alot of things that you missed.

Like the whole thing with Bale getting buried. Little things like that you pick up on the second time.

I'm goin tomorrow, so its tough to read this thread and not ruin anything. I'll be sure to be back in here after I view the film and discuss it

yeah, lol. when u realise it was probably him buried when he's at dinner with his wife, it makes that scene so much better

he says something like I had a really rough day
:woot:

Anyone else know that Borden would remove the soft landing under the stage? It made it that much more painful to watch knowing it was coming.

But one thing I'm mad at myself for not figuring it out were the top hats. Nolan opens the movie with a shot a pile of them, yet I never thought twice about it. He's a sneaky bastard. :)

The script was phenomenal too. I can't wait to see what the other Nolan brother does with the Dark Knight script. (i forgot his name)

so, i read a synopsis of the book and it seems alot different and farfetched than the movie. for those who have read the book, do you prefer the movie or the book?
