oh my lord, instant classic, loved every moment

Just got back from seeing it. It was a very good movie. The end "thing" was insane to think about. Awesome film.:up:

Caught it this past weekend, Awesome flick!

I really think it sounds like some of you need to go back and catch it again, because you missed some subtle but really obvious clues in the movie. Listen to the tagline "Are you watching closely?"

Way darker than I anticipated,

Yeah me too. But I'm not totally sure what I was expecting.

Basically Sarah's line "one you know how it's done, it seems fairly obvious" basically sums up the movie.

It was all a glorified bird in the cage trick. It's easy to pick up if you pay attention but the twist was still cool.

anyone else a little annoyed that the two main characters were so unlikable though. It made it hard to root for or against either of them.

Still a cool entertaining movie.

That was kind of the whole point both characters had periods of where you just hated them and where you just felt sorry for them. The first half of the film I was rooting for Jackman but as it was winding down I was rooting Bale. But in the end you just feel sorry for both of them because they both had been driven by jealousy and obsession.

i rooted for borden the whole time because i identified more with him. the whole idea that he was a better magician, but didn't have the skills of showmanship to let people know how amazing what he was doing was really hit me.

Bale was a piece of crap 'cause he killed Jackman's wife, so I hated his character.

The movie was dumb and predictable, I thought it was suppose to have a surprise ending, but the whole time you saw Bale's partner or whoever it was you knew it was Bale in make-up, duh!

I'm not an idiot, and Nolan was just trying too hard for his trade mark surprise ending, I think he trying to be like M. night Shyamalan.

All I know is he better not screw up the Batman sequels by trying to put in one kitch surprise ending after the other. This is Batman not his creation.

The Prestige was a big let down.:cmad:

Wow, the first neagtive thing I read in this thread. And I don't get it when people say "they better not screw up...." What are you or anyone else going to do about it? Not see the movie? big deal.

...

Now I don't like to use the word "******ed" ...

Bale owned, Jackman owned, Caine owned, Johansson owned, Bowie owned, everyone ****ing owned in this movie :o

Great, great movie :o

He didn't kill her, not intentionally. Angier's wife encouraged him to tie the knot tight. So some blame can be put on her as well.:p

Yeah, I sided more with Borden more than with Angier, Borden started it all on accident and apologized and tried to do something to show Borden he regretted it, but Angier was the one who escalated it :o

Jackman for Dent...

That's funny, I was thinking the same thing earlier today.

I also didn't realize it was David Bowie until the credits. Him and andy Serkis were a nice surprise because I didn't realize they were in the movie.

i sided more with jackman's character until about 2/3 thru when he became a crazy obsessed bastard. i really felt bad for bordon at the end though. hell, i felt bad for angier too, with his whole,"it was for the look on their face" speech. shades of grey.

Well yeah but did you know
that one of them was a good guy the other wasn't . Or that one was going to sacrifice himself for the other ? I know I didn't .

I kept siding with both characters in the end I was with Borden because as in when I read the book I thought Angier overreacted and went to far .

you shouldn't be allowed to watch movies

I was also jumbled between deciding who to root for. I was rooting for Jackman at the beginning, but towards the end where...
when both twins are trying to figure out how Jackman does his transporter trick over 50 feet away, and Borden, or one of them, says "Thats it" and decides he doesn't need to know, thats when I knew Bale was the good guy because he had given up on his obsession.

wow. you're absolutely right on that. Nolan threw those twists in just for the sake of having them. It's not like they were in the book or anything. :whatever:

So what was Borden doing underneath the stage near the end(and start) of the movie where he snuck backstage? At first I would think to kill him or to harm him, but the first thing he said when he saw Angier locked in the water was where was the trap door.

I have to be honest. Even though you have the right not to dislike The Prestige, I've always assiocated you as being the "Guy who doesn't like anything."

Of course, you can give me a list of movies that you like, and debate my argument, citing it as not having any weight...and and blah blah.

Yes, even I had a hunch it was Bale but I wasn't sure if it was a clone/duplicate or a look a like . It kept me guessing till the very end. And that my friends, is magic :)
