Yeah Eka has an interesting backstory too, thanks alot for that interview so i got to learn more about those two characters, i actually assumed they we're lovers, didn't know they we're brother and sister.

I'm seeing this movie again at least twice tomorrow!

I'm possibly seeing this with a friend who loved the first one, I haven't seen the first one though. Is it detrimental to my enjoyment if haven't watched the first one beforehand?

No its not. In fact it might enhance your enjoyment cause you haven't been exposed to the awesomeness of what you are about to see.

All you really need is a brief summary of the first one(spoilers): Rama and his fellow officers raid a building with the end result of only him and a couple of others making it out alive. Along the way we discover that the police force is pretty corrupt, which is what the 2nd movie is gonna deal with.

Also Rama meets up with his brother Andi during the raid, which is the original intent for Rama to go on the mission. He wanted to find him and bring him home. However, Andi has grown to accustomed to this criminal lifestyle and chooses to stay.

You will see Andi in the [BLACKOUT]first scene[/BLACKOUT] of this new movie, you'll know who he is when you see it.

I had that feeling watching this I haven't got since seeing the original Matrix in theaters. Where the final 45 minutes or so gave me a rush. Incredible filmmaking here.

Oh and I was worried when someone here threw around the term "shaky cam" Thankfully all the action is shot clearly. The camera moves, but its done right this way. Not once can you not tell what's going on.

C'mon. These guys are some of the best at what they do. This is pure choreography. This is what action on film celluloid should look like. They know what they are doing , and they know what they want do show the audience.

No way you would see action botched by ridiculous cameras handling , nor bad editing.

Rama launching a 1 man raid on Bangun's hideout is definitely the part of the movie where the best fight scenes overall take place.

Yeah and that car chase was fantastic. It didn't have big stunts but it felt fast and was violent and well shot. I liked it more than other films and their big budget car chases. Poor motorcycle guy.

Oh yeah! I saw that and thought it was very cool. Really liked his character.

Just came back...sh** was amazing. I could go in detail of how awesome this movie but I'll just say this. Game. Changer.

I will say about that raid at the end with Rama...it's a great homage to Game of Death.

I saw people saying there was no actual "Raid" in the film. Guess they missed the end of the film cause that was a one man raid to me.

Eka makes reloading a gun look so cool.

I can just about walk and text at the same time but Eja reloading his gun, driving while injured and dodging fun ford was definitely a cool moment.

Also, one of the funniest moments was Eka getting **** in the leg, Rama showing up and kicking ass and then telling Eka to run.

"Run!"

"B*** can't you see my knee is shot?!"

Its even funnier that Eka ran away quite fast. That hobbled knee barely slowed him down.

The Raid 2

I would never thought Gareth Evans would out do his original film, but he did it in spades. It's easily one of the best or probably THE best action/martial arts/whatever film ever made. He really stepped up his game in terms of directing and cinematography. He pretty much took his original concept and open the box to the outside world and combined it with a bunch of classic type action films. Imagine a combination of Departed/Infernal Affairs + Die Hard + any number of classic yakuza films + Bruce Lee's Game of Death + any fighting video game characters + Car chase from Ronin + the violence of The Raid. For a 2 and a half hour movie, no scene was wasted, nothing really dragged. What the Raid 2 have that the original didn't have was build up, the movie starts off pretty tamed and it just escalates and escalates. Hammer Girl, Bat Boy, and the Assassin were incredible, they are like video game characters that came to live and I mean that in the best possible way. They kicked ass. Iko Uwais as Rama really brought in the humanity side of it more so than the first one. This is the movie you don't want to miss this year or in your life.

I've seen this movie 3 times now and on each occasion the kitchen fight has ended with a huge round of applause from the audience.
