Transformers The Reviews Thread

I'm just curious but has anyone seen any negative reviews for this movie? By negative I mean negative as in across the board. So far ive the closest ones I have seen were still slightly positive.

I hate to be one of those SHH posters, but you ARE in a spoiler forum reading reviews, man. You dont have to read the spoilers, it's not like heroin (just one fix).

Yeah but typically it's good manners to avoid giving away the ending or who dies before the movie is released.

Why would anyone put these in a movie review?

Either people so excited they didn't stop to think about what they were typing, or just good old fashioned morons.

It is.

You know the funny thing? They've made such a big deal over the robots being photorealistic and having thousands of working parts... yet this 'spark' thing clearly shows that any piece of machinery can suddenly become a robot. I dunno... maybe I have my wires crossed... but doesn't this magical element to the robots' physical being render the realistic mechanism point totally moot?

Meanwhile, excuse my ignorance, but why do we hide spoilers in the 'Transformers (Spoilers)' thread?

Not that much different than alot of the religions on our planet. People say God created us in his image. In the movie, the Allspark transforms, right? Who's to say whether the Allspark has a will of it's own or is just a discarded artifact from another civilization. Was the creation of the Autobots predetermined or just a random occurance? I think the mystery adds to the allure of the Allspark, at least the movie version.

prettymuch. oh well. cullen will be teh coolness.

What specifically do you want to see/hear from the movie review?

I tend to go for symbology, visual and technical aspects, touch upon the plot, delve into the acting, sound effects and score.

I dislike the plot summary reviews.. I like to give a little background from where I'm writing from (other movies I liked -- I try to bring some of them in for comparisons during the review -- kind of a "if you liked this, you may like this film") but my editor doesn't.

He wants to get away from the AICN type stuff (and to a degree I agree with him, no one needs to know what I ate for lunch) but I feel there should be something to make the review stand out from the other reviews out there.

I'm a G1 fan, but not a purist. I look at adaptations as chances to see alternate takes on the core concept. So, I'm hoping to approach the review from a purely technical aspect but with the appropriate enthusiasm for what I liked and critique of what I didn't like.

Any suggestions?

Jeez, for what it's worth, sorry guys.. I've edited the major spoiler reviews.. I just posted them after a brief scan. If there's any I missed, let me know and I'll edit.

Another satisfied fan !!!! :D:D:D

There's very little we can say at the moment about the Transformers movie as we're bound to an embargo date on our movie review / plot details of 12:01 AM tomorrow morning. But here's what I can tell you:

-As you can see by the above shot, last night we ended up as a Decepticon.

-We walked out of the theater last night with one of the biggest grins on our face we've had in a long time.

-Michael Bay did not ruin our childhood.

-This movie will make A TON of money.

-GM Exec VP of Design Ed Welburn drives an amazing yellow '69 Camaro -- but he wouldn't wear the blinking Autobot t-shirt.

-We don't think Camaro designer Brian Smith drives an amazing yellow '69 Camaro -- but he did wear the blinking Autobot t-shirt.

-For the next few weeks General Motors is the luckiest automaker on earth.

Knowing myself and what will make me like or dislike a film, its safe to say I will really enjoy this film. The only thing im wondering is, should this be a stand alone film? I just don't know where they can go with a sequel, an original one at least. Wouldn't it be more of the same just with some new faces?

Man, there BETTER be a sequel...so many more transformers they could throw in...and a multitude of stories to tell.

i'd love to see the sequel take place a couple of years after the first one with a whole new storyline that doesn't have to involve the original. i'd love to see TF2 be the first movie of an epic trilogy...

The fact that the movie ends with Optimus transmitting you know what leaves it wide open....both for more good AND bad guys.

Unicron, *****. :o Pardon my french, but it gets me hyped up.

I really hoping for a new director who can take the good from this one and improve on it. By the good I mean the action and ILM.

I hope by that you mean original live action film and not original set of Transformers(autobots). If you mean the latter, we already got that with Transformers: The Movie from the 80's.

The action visualwise can't get better than the director at hand
if anything maybe the writers will elevate the SCRIPT

Bay is a damn good director when it comes to action. I just don't think he's the end all be all director for action movies though. Someone out there could do a sequel with action on par or better than the first.

If I EVER wanted a really truely meaningful script to go along with the awesome action, I'd put my money on James Cameron!!!! The man hasn't made one bad flick yet!!!

Abyss is generally regarded as his worst film though I've nevah seen it.

Well, Transformers cultists can stop clinging anxiously to their Optimus Prime and Megatron figurines and get down to the local multiplex for the year’s biggest pop cultural blow-out — a stunningly crafted action-fantasy that will transform adults into their younger selves for two thundering hours.

For once the uber-action man is more the wise and considered Optimus Prime than rampaging Megatron.

Cept for mr cameron ofcourse

but just like raimi and his thing
this franchise belongs to bay

the only thing that could happen that wouldn't piss me off is if bay gives it speilberg(I'm sure bergs been taking notes)

''In terms of sheer spectacle, "Transformers" is a hard film to beat and certainly it looks like every single dollar of its $200 million budget is up there on screen and spent well. Combined with so many cars in display it'll satiate any auto-fetishist or toy-collecting child, a blaring soundtrack and some silly but at times effective light humor - it certainly feels as if it's one of the few movies this Summer that is actually worth the ticket price.''
