yeah and i'm sure it's supposed to be a nod to the white lenses of the comics

Yup. And that kicks ass. It's strange cuz last night I was reading The Dark Knight Returns and wondering why in the fawk no one used the white eyes in the films. (I figured that when Frank Miller finally gets to direct the movie adaptation of TDKR, then we'd see the white eyes.) Batman in these films should make use of all the tropes in the comics that make him freaky as hell (i.e. -- as opposed to Bale's "scary" voice and weaponised, psychotropic drugs).

Kudos to Nolan and Co.

It's a non-issue. For the masses, it's just a cool new gadget (something that is EXPECTED of Batman movies). For the fans, it's a long-awaited nod to the character's typical comic appearance. Same goes for the the suit; Batman on film is known for his high-tech suits, it's not a huge leap, as if Begins had featured a cloth suit.

Agreed!

- Batman will go to Hong Kong for some kind of "gangster hunting", but Roven doesn't say why Batman travels to Hong Kong.

:wow: Wtf?

Batman’s new mask will have white lenses on the eyes when he turn on the Bat-sonar detection

Batman Forever???^^^

I can't beleive how quick mods close threads, they are seriously on the ball...it's scary

They are like Batman.

You never know where they are, and they are always ready to kick ass.

haha seriously, it's scary.

I made this thread over again (not knowing it existed) called it. NOLAN SPILLS SOME TDK NEWS!

And the 5th post was me saying: please close this, I did not know there was one open. Sorry mods.

I came into this thread...for like 20 seconds, went back and it was locked

I just want to say not showing the origin of the Joker is a top-rock choice. Theres too much unnecessary explanation in comic book movies. The white lenses are obviously a dope lens choice.

Wait a minute! I think Batman had the white lenses on in one of those leaked photos. Someone please verify.

i dont recall....they eyes are darkened in that area in every picture of his new costume...hmm

yeah, but it wasnt for sonar, i'm pretty sure it was just so he wasnt blinded or something. whatever it was for, they didnt explain it like everything else in that movie.

whatever happened to "useing your imagination"?

anyways, i always took away from it that the lenses were supposed to target the brain drain thing.

So where are all the lens haters now?
I think it's great that he will have at least one set of lenses in the cowl.
Personally I wish he had several. One with a targeting HUD,One with night vision,One with white vision (intense light filtering)maybe even one with zoom and microscopic vision. all of them watertight just in case he has to go underwater. Above the enhanced vision capabilities they would provide a very necessary protection for his eyes.

but I guess I can't complain now...at least we are getting some form of lense...

I don't know if I want to see 5 minutes of footage, especially the opening...

More like batman has forever had them in the comics. He always wears lenses for protection and several vision types. It is even in the DC encyclopedia dude. But yes why would u call it sonar vision?

I must say, this all worries me a bit.

For one, I hope to God that we don't see him get his cut smile in the bank robbery scene. The Joker "rising to power" and "becoming Gotham's greatest villain" because of some slits on his cheeks? I hope not. I know, I know, that's jumping to a big conclusion. But...still. One scene in which to bring the Joker from a small-time crook to an evil supervillain?

Secondly, I was sort of hoping the "prologue" would be something seperate from the film. Seeing that might spoil some of it. I dunno, it probably won't.

Third..."bat sonar"? Come on. Didn't they do that same thing in BF? I'm really hoping that Batman doesn't become overly reliant on his gadgets. But between the new suit, the projectile blades, the batpod, and the "bat-sonar", I'm beginning to feel like they're shoving this whole "functional" thing down our throats.

Could the lenses be used while on the Bad Pod? ala Street Hawk? Seem more useful than Bat Sonar.
