The Run Time Length Thread

The spoilers existed but fanboys would not come to grips with it... there were people holding out hope all along that Cyke would come back in the end and what not... up until the screeners. It was certainly an issue but fanboys could not fathom the thought that they'd be killing guys off just like that, and some didn't even think it would be an issue. I definitely think there was more concern with the runtime.

Oh god no...I remember the AICN meltdown and it happened months before the runtime issue. The fanboys were already out on the ledge when they found out how short the movie was going to be. The runtime only reinforced what a mess how much trouble that movie was in.

My biggest issue with X3 was it's story choices, not it's run time or pacing. Could it have used some more time? Yeah, but I didn't think it was really necessary. Now, what they decided to do with that time is what bothered me.

Putting two huge story lines, introducing new characters, wrapping up old arcs, and wanting big action pieces in a short movie is going to end bad no matter what you do with that short amount of time.

Well it's a 90 minute movie:( I hate being right but it's Fox. Glad I didn't fall into the hype by closing my eyes and thinking it will be the best movie of the summer like I did with X3.

I'm not surprised either. My expectations were very low and I guess they did this to show that they don't play favorites. :whatever:

It says on the torrent it is 120 minutes. I haven't watched it yet, is that right?

So about 1hr40 minutes? Well that isn't 90 minutes is it Chase!!! :hehe:

Obviously i would of preferred a 2hour movie, but I said all along that anything around the 1hr 45 minute mark would be alright for me.

:hehe: Well without the credits I think it's something like 1:36 minutes or so. I was hoping for a 2 hour movie. Too bad.

Haha btw: (OT) Wade is funny in this. Him out of the elevator shaft, awesome.

HAHA sick. Shame about the whole Weapon XI debacle though, but that doesn't really damper any chances of a DP spin off.

What was Wade's fight scene like? Sick yea?

I'm still gonna be seeing this at midnite, but watching an unfinished movie (CGI etc) is interesting. His scene is quick but they make it very clear that he won't shut up. Part of me doesn't want to finish it, another part wants me to at least wait until I get to Gambit :hehe:

So you're still watching it now? Does the lack of finished SFX really make a difference do you reckon?

I think it is 97 or 98 minutes without credits...and 8 more minutes OMG:wow: So yeah, it is a 90 something minute movie and the short run time hurt the film. I won't be spending money on this.

Heck yeah, I mean the claws aren't out (when they are) in some scenes, some special effects are in the beginning stages all throughout (you know without the detail kindof thing), and the music is way off (I think). But it's like a 70% completed film.

I was only joking :D

But yea it doesn't sound good. I'm at 80% complete, i'll watch it then make my decision. But i do wanna see it on the big screen, fully finished and what not.

Yea I know what you mean.

i say lets whait until the movie is official out for the runtime.
you that i have big problems with FOX but the workprint could bee form 2008. who knows.
i think the runtime is already locked this month. but if it is the same as the leaked video i dont know.

i think 5 minutes could be added. nothing more. but even if there are 10 mintues more this is still to short. this movie with so many characters would need to be 2 hours.

basicly FOX will never change. and the next big budget FOX movie will again have a thread about the run time. and basicly new SHH members will again defend FOX: they will say ''lets whait and see,you dont know, maybe they changed,90 mintues is enough''. and so on.
every year the same. every f... year the same.

I thought the film was great, perfect length. I think people are being to critical

70%? I'd say about 50%. They haven't removed wires from A LOT of scenes, the entire set piece in the climax needs to be rendered, not to mention a lot of action scenes need rendering as well. Plus I noticed some sound was off so they need to do ADR on top of that.

This version of the movie isn't close to finished, but I highly doubt they'd add 30 more minutes worth of footage. Usually you edit down, not edit up, which doesn't bode well because the pacing was WAY too fast for me. And usually I like fast-paced movies, but here I had no idea why they were showing us something, which makes people tune out.

There are lots of stories on the web suggesting the leaked workprint copy of the movie is about 14 minutes shorter than the finished version. Apparently the leaked workprint doesn't contain all the reshot footage. Could be wishful thinking, but here's hoping...

No surprise to see its a 90 min movie, but at the same time i'm a bit dissapointed, mostly for others on here who were looking forward to it so much. Oh well, I wont be going to the cinema to watch this, and will recommend to everyone I know not to also.

As I have said time and time again to people who think Fox have learned their lesson, they havent learned ****, and to the people who were defending them, I feel the most dissapointed for you guys, as it seems they have spat in your face. This has all been a big joke, and the sooner the X-Men rights revert to Marvel or ANYONE else for that matter, I wont be watching another X-Movie, and as a huge X-Men fan, it truly hurts to say that.

A new creative team does not mean this film will avoid problems that have plagued previous Twentieth Century Fox films because, you know, this film is a Twentieth Century Fox film.

EXACTLY OB, with Fox, another creative team means NOTHING because they will control the direction the movie will go in, as they have done for ALL of their blockbusters for practically the last 10 years. When will you understand McCabe that THIS is what has us worried. The studio has a reputation for meddling with a creative teams vision on numerous occasions, hence why the likes of Alex Proyas, Mathieu Kassovitz, and at one point, Joss Whedon and Bryan Singer, all refused to work for them again.

I dont want to get into another argument with you McCabe, but SURELY you can understand our concerns when I can list around 20 blockbuster's Fox's meddling has ruined in the last 10 or so years.

The reason for that was the ********ting writers, who told us they were re-writing and changing the script every day :whatever:.

Wow a 90-100 mintue film? Forget about any sort of character development in this one.

Is the structure of the film just one giant action scene followed by corny dialogue and so on?
