Do you know why Vaughn "abandoned" the franchise? Because Rothman wanted to rush the whole movie to be out before SR. Vaughn thought the script was poor, and he couldnt make the movie he wanted in the short time they wanted to film it.

And yet Ratner filmed X3 for longer than the filming for X2.

Fox merely wanted to stick to the release date they had already arranged ages before. It was an excellent release date.

As for Vaughn, we will never really know the answer to what he would have done. He was booted off the Thor project so it's difficult to see his results.

I just think had Singer tried to squeeze in Valkyrie, or something smaller perhaps as Valkyrie was a pretty large production, I think he could have still fit X-3 into that small window Fox allotted and they could have potentially made a 2006 release... ala Prestige. But it had to be something small. There is no way you can work on SR and X-3 at the same time. Or without having some type of break in between. Had they done that they would have had to postpone X-3 till June-July 2007... maybe 2008 or even 2009 if he really needed to take his time. That schedule just wasn't going to work for Fox considering they were developing ROTSS for that slot. It had to be May 2006. Singer could have done it had he took a smaller picture. Instead he went to another major comicbook franchise.

Guess we will see X-Men First Class before we see a Deadpool movie now that Reynolds is Green Lantern. If that film is a huge success, which I doubt but it will still probably warrant a sequel, then that could be a trilogy and I wouldn't see Ryan doing another big superhero film until that is done. Especially since Deadpool is a huge character and will probably get 2 or 3 films, this is bad news for Deadpool fans because I could care less about Green Lantern and if it is succesful, then that is 8-9 years of waiting for us.

Is Ryan Reynolds really necessary for Deadpool role?
I mean I would want him also but he would be basically be in a mask for the whole time.

Short answer... YES!:cmad:

Ryan Reynolds is necessary. Fox ****ed up for not getting him into a contract and only doing talks about doing a film. I bet they are ****ing their pants right now.

What is even more sad for Deadpool fans, I can see Fox moving forward and doing the film without Reynolds.

I'm surprised that Reynolds' X-Men contract wasn't for two films, thus allowing him to be brought back for the Deadpool spin-off. Most film contracts are for more than one movie.

Good luck to him. He went for a role and he got it. There was no writer or director for Deadpool so it was a long way off anyway, unlike First Class or Magneto where are scripts ready to go.

I can't blame him. As mentioned, there was no writer or director for the Deadpool movie. And if I have to be honest, if I had the choice between doing a Green Lantern or Deadpool Movie, I'd probably go with Green Lantern as well. Seems like too much fun to pass up. That and a Green Lantern Movie is probably a better move career wise. But I still hope that he'll make Deadpool after Green Lantern.

I doubt Fox will wait for him and if Green Lantern is a success then that is a definite no. I am happy for Ryan, he should do what he wants and I wouldn't wait on Fox either.

The moral of this story is that Fox ****ed up again.

If only Marvel would've had the Deadpool Movie rights. I hope Marvel never sells any rights to FOX ever again. I can't wait till X-Men and the Fantastic Four revert back to them.

Yeap. They have murdered easily one of the top superhero franchises in the X-Men and beat, murdered, spit on, and kicked The Fantastic Four to no end. Fox should not be allowed to make superhero movies.

Serious grasping at straws in here...Deadpool movie starring Ryan Renynolds will NEVER happen, take that to the bank.

I don't get why everyone act like DP was on the fast track. They literally JUST announced it was happening at all. The movie probably would've been in pre-production for a good year and half. I wouldn't expect to see a DP movie until 2012.

it had a release date set for 2011.

Deadpool doesn't even have an official screenwriter or director yet. Yeah, nothing was getting fasttracked.

I expect that we get First Class or Magneto in 2010 and Magneto or Deadpool in 2011.

lets not get carried away here. those movies are very entertaining and fun to watch. why do people treat it like it's shakepeare is beyond me. they made two movies which both made decent amount of money.

people's expectations for the film were way out of proportion than what they really are.

I was talking about the X-Men in general. Spider-Man, X-Men, Batman, and Superman are the top 4 superhero franchises. Fox has murdered one of the top superhero franchises in the world because they make ****y movies. X2 wasn't Shakespearian but at the time, it was the best superhero movie to date and remains a good film.

No superhero movie is compared to Shakespeare so that comment is a bit over-the-top in your post.

I'm really sorry, i thought you were talking about fantastic four. My mistake.

I do agree with that (ok, maybe not the best, but i agree). I actually think X3 wasn't as bad as people make it out to be.

Agreed.

I agree. But I do think Fox didn't treat the FF and X-Men franchises to their fullest potential.

However, I can still enjoy the FF and X-Men movies without having an emotional meltdown in my living room every time I go within a few feet of the Blu-ray cases.

I expect that we get First Class or Magneto in 2010 and Magneto or Deadpool in 2011.

2009 is almost over and none of those projects are even in production. 2011 is basically a long shot let alone 2010. It's possible that Deadpool or Magneto can still make a Fall 2011 release but I wouldn't bank on it. All we need now if for Jackman to call it quits, let them do their teen drama First Class movie for 2012, hopefully it flops and Fox gives it up. That's the best case scenario.

Or they need to do what is happening with the revamp of Predators.

Rodriguez is making that for Fox but at his own studios, away from the studio executives' interference.

Marvel Studios should make the X-Men and FF movies, with Fox distributing, marketing (and maybe part-financing?) but otherwise staying out of the way.

But Marvel has to worry about their own tentpoles. They have this slate of films plus possible sequels. They can't do X-Men of FF on the side just like that. Spinoffs are one thing but why tie yourself to Fox's X-Men universe, which is what they would have to do. I think they can develop a Deadpool movie on the side, but Fox has a lot of time on their hands. I'd imagine they want to do it themselves.

I agree. As much as I wanted to see a DP movie, there's too much uncertainties with DP, and since Fox has been notoriously bad at maintaining the integrity of the movies they make, often demanding films to be edited below 2 hours and other changes, I think Reynolds was wise at going after a GL movie that will be the first on big screen. I think if GL turns out to be successful, we may never see a DP movie starring Reynolds. Too bad.
