The Sam Elliot/Caretaker Discussion

Although I think he's a great addition to the cast, I don't like the idea of one actor having different roles in two major Marvel franchises.

How do you feel about Affleck playing, Shanon Hamilton, Holden McNeil, Bartleby and Ben Affleck in the Askewnaverse?

2 min appearance or not, I wanna see it... sounds freakin' cool.

I hoping that I can find somewhere to d/l it actually... or maybe somebody here has it on the PC and could send it to me.... Anyone?

actually i still have some clips that i sent to MarvelMovies awhile back.
i managed to find the tape on ebay....it was a limited release on video in Canada too. think they released a few of the hulk episodes on vhs a few years ago and luckily they did the one w/ GR. neat episode...no ads! heh
main problem i have w/ it is GR's voice....he sounded like a wuss...lol.
he needs to sound really pissed off....instead he was kinda mellow.

I remember somebody talking about how crappy the voice was... and I think I'll look for that thread later on... just to see what else was talked about. I doubt I"ll find it though. It's probably in this huge thread for all know.

Hey MM... you still got those clips buddy boy?

Yeah, the FF voice was kinda lame, but the GR voice on the Hulk cartoon was a lot better. If memory serves me correctly the same person did the voice on both cartoons (Richard Greco-I think), but they did some computer thing or something with the voice to make it sound better in the hulk. I believe FF appearance came first.

i do agree the actual effects for the voice and hellfire were cool....but the way Greco did the voice was all wrong imo. if he sounded like he was constantly pissed off that would have helped..

I hope when Ghost Rider talks in the movie, he sounds much better... such as when the Hulk talked in his movie, I think they nailed his voice..

That is of course IF we hear him talk. They may just make him a brutal beating machine with no voice. I would hate that...

We talked about this a lot in The Sound of HellFire thread. I think it was that one anyway.

I saw Sam Elliot outside the cemetary this morning. They had been filming all night and he looked like he needed a rest. I saw two horses last night that they were preparing. Does Caretaker ride a horse? Sam was wearing a brown vest thing.

In the first email that 'the source' (the person who talked about the bikes a while ago, if you remember) he talked about seeing saddles and holsters. I didn't really think about it until now. I remeber the image that came to mind when reading it though. Perhaps they're making it more of cowboy movie than we thought... except, instead of them being on horses, they'll be on bikes. I guess, that's essentially what they're doing anyway.

I found these two images and had to share them. He's pretty freakin'' cool.

Just getting these conversations to the top again...

He was good in the trailer/comic con thing eh? Most everyone I read loved him. I myself thought he was perfect!

I like sam. He has been really well in the superhero movies.

Perfect casting. Sam's got real presence, a worldly wisdom about him and a fatherly tone to his voice. As this has been billed as a 'supernatural western', who better? The guy's straight outta Tombstone.

My first thought when seeing him in the footage: damn that guy looks a lot like Lee Marvin!

He looks like his character from Roadhouse, but that doesn't really matter :) He's still gonna kick ass in this movie.

There is no other who can play the Caretaker like that of Sam Elliott.

With this being his 2nd comic book movie (General Ross in The Hulk), Sam is well on his way to having a statue on my wall!

I love that he's doing another Marvel flick. It's so great to see wonderful actors return to a production company... especailly great ones like Sam.

Yeah, his voice is perfect! I love the way it sounds. Perfect for this character... Sam in total is perfect for this character.

This question was posed at the ComicCon; http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0508/20/ghostrider.htm

Question: Are you combining the horse and the motorcyle versions?

Johnson: That's a good question, but I can't answer it. I'm really sorry. I don't want to give away too much and that one feels like I might.

Interesting... Don't ya think? I wonder will we be seeing Ghost Rider on a horse at some point in this movie? What exactly did he not want to give away I wonder?

Let's speculate!

Hmmm, interesting indeed. As far as I know there wasn't much revealed about the origin of the western GR. So if the movie has Zarathos as the GR(Awesome), then perhaps MSJ is going to draw a correlation between the Western GR and Blaze GR thus filling in the blanks on the western series and confirming that Carter S was possessed by Zarathos. I think that would be a good idea....unless I've missed something and the western comic already said something different.

I did notice that in the Comiccon footage there was a split-second shot of the Caretaker on horseback. That could mean anything, though.

Yeah, that could be anything... Plus, Caretaker looks awesome on a horse.

As for Carter, I don't think he was possessed by anything. He just had a special cape that make him look invisable and such... didn't he?

No. The Slades are not possessed by any supernatural forces.
Apparentelly.
Who knows for sure?
He looks pretty spooky to me. You know: the curse didn´t begin with the Blazes. It was the Kales, later the Blazes, the Ketchs ( Barbara would become the next GR not Danny ). Why not the Slades? I think it would be cool.
A beautiful homage to the hardcore fans.
Carter removing his white mask and revealing his true flaming skull face.
Christ, it chills me out.
A demonic horse ( Banshee, WGR white horse )..., breathing fire, perhaps?
Jesus, i´m tripping already. Better stop.
:-)

The carter slade being a Ghsot Rider you mean? Or the Ghost Rider's in history riding horses cuz I know they had a few panels of that before.

I'm thinking when Careteker explains to Blaze about who GR is there may be flashbacks to previous GR's one of which was probably on horseback.

That'd be neat. I like this whole lineage idea. I wonder if it's implying that (in the movie) Caretaker was once Ghost Rider, back in the Wild West.

Hmmm... that would indeed be an interesting plot development. I really like that idea. Gives the whole mentor side of things a little more meat.

That is quite a good possibility there Uncanny and something I would love to see. Any reference given to the legacy of Ghost Rider would be great for me.
