The Score of The Batman

Which is kind of how Zimmer's first Batman theme started out. I remember hm talking about how Batman didn't really "earn" his full theme until THE DARK KNIGHT and RISES.

I do think they'll move away from the Zimmer sound for JUSTICE LEAGUE and THE BATMAN somewhat.

The Batman, almost certainly departing from Zimmer's sound with Giacchino on board.

I have yet to hear Junkie XL/Tom Holkenborg go the 'Marvel Studios' route for any of his scores. If anything his Justice League score will be a lighter version of BvS, not a stylistic departure.

They should get Joseph Bishara to do it. He'll be able to really punctuate the essence of fear needed for a Batman movie.

Guys, stop suggesting other composers.

Giacchino is going to score this movie. Period.

Yeah, I'll be stunned if Reeves has anyone else score the film. Giacchino has been scoring all of his films since Day 1 with Cloverfield.

Honestly I think the more worthwhile question is if Reeves will stick with Michael Seresin as his D.P. for The Batman and whether or not they'll shoot the movie with the Alexa 65mm camera, with a 2.40:1 aspect ratio, like they're doing in War for the Planet of the Apes.

I'm hoping that'll be the case as Seresin did great work with Reeves on Dawn and the footage for War looks even better.

This is the reason why Drake should get the job....

I mean, I love what Christopher Drake has done for Batman with the animated movies and Arkham video game scores. Especially the piece that you linked.

You will hear no arguments from me that he'd be perfect for a proper live action Batman movie score. The man 'gets' Batman musically in a way that I think no one else quite has since the days of Danny Elfman and Shirley Walker.

The point is that it's almost definitely going to be Michael Giacchino. Like I mentioned up above, Reeves has worked with Giacchino consistently on all of his feature length films since his debut with Cloverfield.

God willing.

I mean, these other suggestions are great... but a f***ing Giacchino Batman score??? Lawd...

I REALLY want Junkie to do the score. The BvS Batman theme personifies Batman and is my favorite superhero theme, period. I think it might be my favorite song too (or second to the Isengard theme).

Giacchino's work on Lost still makes me misty eyed

Hope it happens.

Trent Reznor would be something exciting and new I think.

so he didn't come out and say he would.. he was put on the spot by Quinones and just kind of said "yeah sure". what else was he supposed to say? "nah"?

I doubt Giacchino is officially attached to the movie right now since Reeves is still completing the third Apes film. He will likely reach out to Giacchino during pre-production on The Batman, tell him when to clear his schedule and have the studio ink out his deal.

I would be shocked if Giacchino didn't score the film.

He and Reeves are cool. If Reeves ask him to score Batman, you really think he'll say "No"?

I'm certain that Giacchino would deliver a very satisfying score. He is the chameleon of modern cinematic composers. His 'Incredibles' score is a 'best of John Barry's James Bond' that is better than any James Bond score since Barry (and that includes the work of my favorite film composer ever, Thomas Newman's 'Skyfall').
This is not an insult. Giacchino is terrific in his own right. He plays with emotion and nostalgia when approaching a score. My guess is that a Giacchino Batman score would be very evocative of both Elfman and Zimmer, sounding familiar yet fresh.
Maybe not as exciting as the possibilities of Trent Reznor score, but it wouldn't be as divisive as (I'm guessing) a Reznor Batman score would be.

Giacchino would probably reference Zimmer's Batman theme in the film, maybe develop it like Elfman did with Silvestri's Avengers theme in Age of Ultron.

Maybe, but there's not much to develop regarding Junkie XL / Zimmer''s Batman theme, since it's really just a lot of noise, at least if you ask me.

Anyway I think Giacchino is way overbooked, I like his music, but he should really try his hand at more smaller films, he's doing way too many blockbuster films these days.

Either Giacchino or Junkie. That is all.

All I ask is that the composer use organs. I'm aching for a gothic score.
