Clone Wars The Season 5 Discussion Thread

My guess is that they'll probably be made into Direct to Video movies.

To this news, I respond with both my middle fingers aimed at whoever is responsible for this! :argh:

I really do wonder if this was a Disney move or a Kathleen Kennedy move.

Looking at the cup half full, how does "winding down" equate to being "officially cancelled"? We all knew there were only aiming for 100 episodes since the beginning and they've far surpassed that, so it's can't really be that surprising, right?

On the bright side, it looks like Star Wars Detours has been cancelled.

It's sad to see the series go, but I can't say I'm angry -certainly not as upset as a lot of folks. At this point I'm going to take the 'wait and see' approach. While it doesn't look at all like there will be a sixth season, word seems to be that there will be some kind of content that will hopefully wrap everything up.

I sincerely hope Dave Filoni and his team will be able to keep working on Star Wars animated stuff. The announcement at Starwars.com talked about a new show taking place in "a time period not previously seen" in any of the movies or TV shows. That's pretty exciting, though whether or not it will be the Clone Wars team remains to be seen.

On the bright side, we did get 5 pretty incredible seasons with some of the best Star Wars adventures yet. That's pretty darn good for any all-ages animated series. I'll miss the show, but I'm looking forward to whatever comes next!

On hold more like. :p

On hold means cancelled. If LucasArts doesn't want to launch a SW comedy series before Episode 7, they're definitely not going to want to launch it after EP7 is a huge success.

It didn't look funny anyway. No big loss.

well, this sucks!!

but, on the plus side, that means I won't have to watch Cartoon Network anymore, now that Young Justice is ending, too.

Dave Filoni says there's still episodes to come. In what manner they will be released, who knows, but that's promising anyway. They show a really interesting clip here too. Also I really like the top comment on this video.

A little Order 66 programming malfunction in that clip. As long as they get a dozen eps to wrap up Maul and Ventress and then transition into the Coruscant ground battle from the start of ROTS, I'll be ok with this, not happy but at least not left feeling we left important plot points hanging.

That was nice tie In to order 66 In clip.Perhapes a test to see If the Clone troopers when time comes(as we saw In ROTS) will turn on Jedi

I really don't see a need to transition to the Battle of Coruscant. That's already been done in Tartakovsky's Clone Wars cartoon. But the Maul, Asoka, and Ventress stuff do need to get finished.

If they can show a different angle, a new perspective on the battle, I'm all for it. If it's just going to be the same ol' same ol', then definitely leave with something else.

WTF, DISNEY???!!!

First Spectacular Spider-Man, now Clone Wars! :cmad:

WTF, DISNEY???!!!

Great parting words from James Taylor (aka the voice of Obi-Wan in CW): http://jamesarnoldtaylor.com/jamesarnoldtaylor.com/Clone_Wars_Thoughts.html

Thanks for posting that, Bim! Very sad. I met James Arnold Taylor at Star Wars Weekends last year. I very nice and sweet man who also had a great one man show, by the way! Very sad.

Oh, well, I look forward to the new arcs, I guess at starwars.com. Hopefully, it will be included in the Season 5 set when it comes to Blu-Ray.

You know, all this Disney distancing itself from isn't really fair to the newer generations. I mean, yeah, I prefer the originals, but the prequels were entertaining. And many of those who grew up with the prequels are entering their twenties. Clone Wars seem to appeal to families of Star wars fans, from kids to even parents and adults that didn't even like the prequels.

We got Five excellent seasons...some good shows don't even get one full season Hopefully we get some dtv's or bonus content on the next season dvd/blu set.

One good thing I'm hoping for......the complete series DVD/Blu set.

Oh, and as I said, this is Disney distancing itself from the prequels.

So anyone hoping to see Asoka pop up in Episode VII will be disappointed.
