If this doesn't prove that Stark is a bad influence on the MCU Spidey then I'm not sure what is.

Yes, it's cool that Spidey can have fun at times, but so much of this film so far just seems to be setting Spidey up as a "Kid Avenger" and having fun with all the other superheroes in the MCU, not learning about responsibility and the struggles of being a young hero with a secret identity.

When the film makes over a billion... no they probably won't understand that.

The movie will make money but that won't prevent people from having issues with it. The reviews matter and if the main problem of the movie lies with Peter and his dynamic with Tony, that Feige might take it on consideration for the sequel.

Espacially because comic book readers have such high expectations since he's in the MCU now.

It's just nice to know so many fans out there share our feelings about Stark & his siege over this movie & everything Peter was in the comics.

Carroll (producer for Homecoming) said they didn't want to focus on responsibility. They want to focus on the fun of it & the question of "what happens if a 15 year-old gets powers?" What you're seeing is 100% international

The thing is, commenters like those (and a few of us here who share similar sentiments) are still in the minority compared to the largely positive feedback from the GA. The biggest complaints actually seem to be about the trailers revealing too much. People like fanboy Peter fawning over Iron Man, so as long as it's popular I'm not seeing the dynamic going away soon

Yeah, it probably is not what 616 Peter would have done. But I do think that it would be interesting character trait. It's not that far fetched that Peter would enjoy positive feedback and popularity. It could add to the escapism aspect of Spider-Man. Meaning that Peter could take a break from his personal problems by becoming this cool superhero, which would also be wish fulfillment for the audience.

Or, you could at some point flip all that. Imagine that Spidey would start getting hate. People would dissect everything that he did or said. It could be a modern version of the hate that traditionally Spidey has gotten through Bugle.

And it could add an element to Spider-Man that we haven't really seen before: Interactivity with NY on a large scale. Many popular YouTubers use their status very responsibly. They host charities and try to get their values heard. I can imagine Peter trying to teach about responsibility online to his young fanbase.

I guess Peter caring more about his Spider-Man image like this kind of makes more sense than the opposite extreme of working for the Bugle, though that was very amusing and probably more amusing, but him being an image- and media-savvy guy feels like a pretty big change.

I think Spider-Man Homecoming would do good, it is just that I am scared that Iron Man will steal the spotlight, and Disney and the movie crew forgot that Spider-Man was supposed to be the star, since it's called Spider-Man Homecoming not Iron Man Homecoming.

I don't think he will, reports said RDJ will be in the movie for 10 minutes and I think that means as Tony and IM.

What more concerning is, despise his lack of screentime, the importance the writers gave to Tony to Peter's origins (Tony making the suit, gadgets, Peter being extremely dependant to Tony etc).

I think that's great Tony is in there for only 10 mins , despise what the last poster wants the audience to think. It's just marketing.

well sad state when i who second favorate comic book was spider-man have no desire to see homecoming and more excited for wonder woman.

i continue to hate the trailers.spider-man's suit for stark alone pisses me off.people don't like i call mcu spider-man turned into stark sidekick but in last trailer it toaly comes off like that.sidekick who is now given own film.add to that giving peter in high school buddy who knows his secret.

michael keaton is about only postive thing i saw in trailers.and even vulture is more upset with stark.

if i didn't love spider-man i wouldn't be so worked up about homecoming.i am at point where i hope it's true sony will end deal after homecoming 2.

Although Stark probably doesn't have that much screentime in the movie anyway so the marketing will just make people expect more from him if anything.

homecoming i suspect will be biggest comic book film of 2017 as far as box office goes.doesn't mean it will be unisally loved by everyone

mcu+stark will make ton of money.some spider man fans may not love it.plus it's spider-man.amazing spider-man 2 did 700 million ww.downey alone may add 300 million to it.

Wait, Spidey isn't even going to be an American hero?! Lock Watts Up!! Lock Watts Up!!

Peter should've been British but when he puts on the mask he's got an American accent. :o

Found this on Instagram:

Haha, best one yet. But honestly, count all of things connected to Tony Stark in this movie that he had nothing to do with in the comics...

^ Why is Spider-Man in there threatening to take over Iron Man's film? :o

The fact that someone actually photoshopped RDJ's face onto Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Favreau & Marisa Tomei :funny:

Same :woot:
The Wonder Woman movie puts unintentionally the spotlight on everything wrong with SMH for me. I found the cinematography, the promotion, the posters, and the trailers way better than SMH. Last year, at the same time I didn't even care that much about WW and now I'm more excited for it than Homecoming.

Some websites already see the issue with Homecoming. They basically have the same arguments than we have: Tony being way too ties to Peter's origins.

Hopefully, Marvel will have more faith in Spider-man in the sequel :oldrazz:.

with wonder woman
they apparently didn't force a batman appearance in the begining and end which bookmarks the main story
they allowed it to be it's own story.it's defently isn't one exact telling of wonder woman.it makes changes like moving er story to wwI
and taking from new 52 she is actuly daughter of zeus and the classic origin was cover story
homecoming is coming off as equilvent of doing robin solo film after introducing robin in batman film.
it doesn't matter if stark only has 10 to 15 minutes os screentime.his presence is all over the film.i continue to scratch my head what feige and
his braintrust was thinking.unlike spider-man 3 and amazing spider-man 2 this can't be blamed on arad and sony.feige has creative control over homecoming.andd to that all the ultimate influences of miles morales ultimate spider-man run.

after civil war, homcinging, infinity war and following avengers film it would be nice if they got all the spider-man as stark sidekick out of their system and do a film focusing on spider-amn without all the ties to stark.

I'm not really skeptical that Homecoming will be GOOD, my hype is just shockingly low for a movie starring my all-time favorite hero. I think it's just a combination of overexposure in the trailers, frustration with the mess they made of the supporting cast, and an overall loss of enthusiasm on a personal level due to my disappointment in how Marvel has been handling the Spidey brand.

Bingo. Couldn't agree more.

Tom can't even appear on the tonight show without Sony assigning RDJ to babysit him :whatever: :whatever:

Looks like more of move from Marvel (or both probably). Marvel uses Kimmel a lot to promote the movies. Last year, it was with RDJ and Chris Evans when they were doing the promotion for Civil War .
