Comics The Spiderman Trade Paperbacks/HC Thread

Yup...I realized after reading it, there aren't many good Spidey FIGHTS lately. That whole Millar run of MKSM was action-PACKED! Great fights. You pick up an issue now, and you don't get much of that.

Also, I saw the Spider-Man Torment HC at my LCS the other day. I thought I could resist it if I ever saw it, but it sucked me in just like it used to. I threw it in my pull list so I could pick it up next time.

I also picked up the HC of Spider-Man: With Great Power. That was pretty cool. It was a really good story, and it provides a nice little aside to show what (could have) happened between the pages of AF#15. Also, the artwork was gorgeous.

Aloha,
I enjoyed with Great Power but I was wondering if it was supposed to be canon?I don't think so. Torment HC also pulled me in.Great minds think alike.:word:

Aloha,
Busiek's run will be Untold Tales of Spider-Man, one of my favorites simply because it fits seamlessly into Lee/Ditko continuity. JMS's first run should include Morlun and the 911 issue, many readers liked JMS's earliest works.

JMS' run volume 1 will be Coming Home, the only Spider-Man trade I've found in the shops that's worth buying, with the exception of Kraven's Last Hunt and the Death of Jean DeWolffe (which I haven't actually ever seen in a shop, so...)

Coming Home is an awesome self contained storyline and the ending is brilliant, but volume 2 was boring.

Actually, JMS Back in Black is worth buying... but anything else of his is either ***** or good but not good enough to buy in collected form

I can't find the Oversized Hardcover of Marvel Knights Spiderman anywhere...all the online ones are just vol. one

any help?

you only need Vol. 1.

I'm not sure about an OVERSIZED HC ????

but MY GOD the fight scenes in MARVEL KNIGHTS Spidey Vol. 1 are great!

I just got all 4 volumes of Marvel Knights Spiderman on Amazon.

Aloha,
It's not oversized just HC. It collects the first 12 issues of MK Spider-Man. Well worth the price.

I don't see how Great Power can be canon, but I look at it much like Spider-Man:Blue, which is a lot like that. It's a good story, so I'll enjoy it. Blue was semi-canon, same with GP, and I reallyt like them both.

As for Torment, yes, great minds do think alike. It's like I always say: McFarlane has his harsh critics, but if the man came back to Spidey tomorrow to do a 3 issue story, it would out-sell EVERYTHING for thsoe three months. The man defined how Spidey was drawn for awhile there, and paved the way for some of the mroe radical interpretations of the web-head. Romita IS the man, but it seemed like alot of artists seemed to draw the red & blues to his specs, and never took much license with it....and after McFarlane, people started playing with it. Look at Larsen, His Spidey is one of my fave Spideys of all time.

Oh, and back on the hardcover talk, has anyone else noticed that Marvel had a "Sinister Six" HC collection coming out with the original Sinister Six story, as well as Michelinie and Larsen's "Return of the Sinister Six"? That is a mandatory purchase!:woot:

Nice. So much great HC coming out soon...

Just got myself Spider-Man: Blue HC. Great read with great artwork too!

Gotta be honest, I've actually never paticularly liked anything Loeb's done, evah. Just not my cup of guiness.

I try to only pick up my Spidey in trades and HC's. Here's hoping that the new web of Spider-man won't mess up the easy to read "all collected" trades of Amazing that Marvel puts out now.

I was at B&N the other day looking at their trades they had, some hardcover and just some paperback versions.

I wish i had more money, cause i wanted to pick up a few.

They had Spider-Man: Blue, Spider-Man & Black Cat: Evil That Men Do, Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 1 and 2(the big books).

What's the deal with the new Masterworks tpb's? I have the first one. Are they gonna release all of the Lee/Ditko/Romita years in these volumes?

I just finished Spider-Man: The Other and I started it late and stayed up until 6 in the morning reading it...and making sure I was able to take in ALL of the art.

If you have not read this you have to. Someone you never expected to see EVER shows up and does something you thought would NEVER happen.

also i have a question...
Do we ever see those spiders that ate his body again? I would love to know what happened with
that "opposite".

I just got my 1st round of b-day money so I'm gonna buy DEATH OF THE STACY's & other marvel books

punisher: welcome back frank
hulk: VS the marvel universe
fantastic four greatest

Who Morlun? I remember him being advertised to return in that arc. Not like there was any point for him to be in the story though. And yes "The Other" returns during the short lived friendly neighborhood series. I believe during back in black.
