9/10 times the reason for any action taken becomes public knowledge, and petitions to re-instate banned members have worked. Personally, I think that any bannings should be up to a public poll, but leave probation in the hands of the mods.
I don't think thats a good idea. Say Wilhelm posts hardcore porn on the site in a thread titled "The 13 and under thread! All young Hypsters come here!"...do you think people would vote to ban him? Of course not. Say Memphis Slim/Celldog on the other hand, does a minor case of trolling. He'd be out and never let back. Moderator's discretion is needed. Certain mods just need to be fair about it.
