The Stephen King Thread - Part 1

As big as a Stephen King fan that I am, I've never read any of the Dark Tower. I really need to get on that!

I started Gunslinger but couldn't stick with it. Thinking about getting the highlights and moving onto the Drawing of the Three.

Just finished reading Doctor Sleep, I loved it. Easily get's a 4/5 from me.

Haven't read a King book yet I didn't like. ..Or a Bachman for that matter.

If you can find a trade paperback copy of The Drawing of the Three, it should have a synopsis of The Gunslinger. King does sort of just throw you into this strange world without much exposition. The fourth book revisits the highlights from The Gunslinger in much greater detail, so you should be fine starting with Drawing.

Same with me, I love them all. I'm especially fond of his short story collections like Skeleton Crew.

I've just read Dr Sleep and The Shining and I place those two in my top 5. I'm reading The Deadzone right now and Joyland is next on my list.

That's one reason I wanted to get around to reading it (among many of the already filmed shorts from past years). It's so far akin to They Live but I'm only into the first 15ish or so pages.

The book is good but other than the broad details it's nothing like the movie. The movie is good too but it's also got more cheesey lines and scenes.

I listened to Cycle of the Werewolf today on audiobook. I thought it was decent but I prefer Silver Bullet.

Been listening to The Colorado Kid audiobook. Seems decent so far. I'm roughly 1/3rd into it.

I read Blockade Billy last night. Good story but incredibly short. My kindle said it was around ut130 pages but it was closer to 90

I liked Colorado Kid better than Blockade Billy probably just because Blockade was too darn short.

Finished listening to The Colorado Kid. I didn't care for it but I guess I had a different idea of what the story was going to be. This was entirely dialogued based while I thought it was going to be about someone trying to uncover the mystery instead of talking about it.
