StephenKing.com has published the original final chapter from 11/22/63. It was replaced with Citizen of the Century but you can now read it here
Finished Lisey's Story. Not sure what to think. I was over halfway finished with it before I really started getting into it, for some reason it just wasn't clicking with me. But it held my interest enough to finish and now I'm left feeling profoundly sad. Which I guess is the point but damn I didn't realize how deeply it got its hooks into me.
As many of my old paperbacks I bought in the late 80's/early 90's have gone missing, I've decided to start collecting Steve's books in hardback and rereading them in publication order. I have Carrie on the desk beside me and I plan to start on it in a couple days.
Anyone's reading the "Dark Tower" serie? I'm about to finish the first book and I think it's very good.
Hopefully there will an announcement about Dr. Sleep soon. On a disconnected note, I finished rewatching Riding the Bullet, and I have to say, it is my favorite adaptation of King's material - outside of Salem's Lot and The Shining - that does not involve King in producing or directing capacity (that is an entirely different list.) Arquette is great in the film, and the actor they had for young Alan did an excellent job, as well. Plus, I love how soaked the film is in the '60's atmosphere and culture. On an even more disconnected note, I wish Warner Brothers would release the 2004 Salem's Lot miniseries on Bluray, and give it a decent transfer/upgrade. I'm not asking for a Taxi Driver restoration, but something that will pack an extra punch.
I actually did the same thing, but on my kindle. I started buying all of King's books in order. And damn how I forgotten how terrifying Salem's Lot really was. It still is the most terrifying vampire novel ever.
The Dark Tower has given me a different outlook on King novels, even those not related to the Dark Tower. For example, after rereading the Shinning, I could almost imagine the Crimson King being behind the force in the hotel trying to get Danny.
