The only Stephen King book I've ready so far is 'Salem's Lot. I'm torn between reading The Stand or The Shining next. Anyone have any suggestions?

New info about Mr. Mercedes from the moderator of King's board.

It's typical length of a crime genre novel, but would be more of a smaller length novel for Stephen. This is only the first draft, though, so it's too early to post anything about exact page numbers.

Mister Mercedes too creepy?

Mister Mercedes is mentioned in an article about King and Doctor Sleep in USAToday.

Next for King is a non-supernatural suspense novel, Mister Mercedes, about a deranged terrorist with a bomb. He says he began it before the Boston Marathon bombing, but it's "too creepily close for comfort."

Believe it or not, I was at Giant Eagle grocery shopping, and I just happened to walk down the bread aisle adjacent to books and magazines, and a young employee was just randomly putting copies on the shelf. It was obviously a mistake, but I wasn't about to tell her. So I snagged one, put it in my cart, thinking that no cashier would actually scan this (nor would it properly scan, because some items have an error if they're before the release date), but BOOM, it scanned, I used my Giant Eagle card, got it for $22.

I'm on page 122. Guys, this is quite seriously his best novel in 15 years.
