How can they make a sequel? I thought this was based on a true story. If it was (and I think there was some controversy over that) isnt it a little disrespectful to cash in on a brutal double murder? At least when the first movie came out it could have brought attention to the case and bring the killers to justice.

I don't know if this is based on true thing or not. It says that for alot of movies. but their just loosely based on true events.

Hmm, if there's a sequel I hope they don't mess it up I'm one of the few people I know in real life who thoroughly enjoyed this movie...it had such a great classic suspense/slasher feel to it :heart: I was genuinely scared for parts of it.

I like this movie and in some spots it actually made me drop.

I really see no need for a sequel really.

But hey thats hollywood anything that makes money means it must need a sequel.

Yeah the Strangers was a really good horror movie. It almost felt like one of those early 80's grindhouse slasher movies.

which dress? sorry. sometimes I get some of her dresses she wore in lotr and in her other movies mixed up...but alas, it doesn't beat the ones where she's in nothing but a red bra and panties...

Smother will be released in the US late September. Though I have already seen it but I like to see it in theaters at least with my parents. My mom would laugh her arse off. Its a dark comedy and its hilarious. Liv is great in it, as she always is.


Anyway, on topic... I don't see how it warrents a sequel. I am not entirely sure it is a good thing but the script is still in the works. I dunno. I guess it is not too early to pass judgement on a film that hasn't been made yet but still... while I quite liked the original, I don't see a need for another in the same name.

Oooh,a hardcore bootylicious looking Liv,me likey! Anyways,I'm a bit worried about The Strangers sequel as well. I just hope it looks and has the same tone as the first movie. I hope the cast basically stays the same. I would be fine with the sequel name if they just callled it The Strangers 2. Unless they decide to go with a longer title,if they do I would prefer something like The Strangers:Blood on the walls. It's the only nice sounding longer title I could think of.

MY REVIEW

The Strangers stars Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman as a couple who return early from a party because they had a fight. Bad idea because all hell breaks loose as the couple begins to get harassed by three mysterious people in masks.

THUMBS UP








Not many horror movies ever had me at the edge of my seat in suspense like The Strangers had me. Masked weirdos appear out of nowhere in scenes you'd least expect. And that's the magic The Strangers brought. Not many horror movies can build a scary atmosphere but The Strangers did it and I applaud it for that.

The acting was pretty solid. Scott Speedman is a dude I'd like to see in the up and coming future.

The people behind the masks did great in their body moments. That's not sarcasm by the way, I'm serious. Michael Myers was so great because he was silent but had some creepy movements. The masked killers did the same delivering the creepy body moments which play such an important part when you can't make facial expressions.

THUMBS DOWN










About half way into the movie things fall flat. The Strangers becomes your typical horror movie and what was so good at the start, vanishes. Liv Tyler gets chased for 20 minutes while the creepy atmosphere just fades away with boredom.

The worst part is the ending. You get no closure. All is build to nothing which makes the first half of the movie seem pointless.

OVERALL

Sucker for horror movies? Then check it out. There are some good scares throughout the first half. But if you like a little bit more depth to your horror movies and you hate typical mainstream stuff, than this is not for you.
