The STUPIDEST mutant power ever: SPOILERS

Actually, in the comics Leech cancelled out super powers. Period. Not just "mutant powers" but ALL metahuman powers.

No, it's not a very logical process, but the comics explained that he didn't so much get rid of their powers as was psionic and cut off their ability to USE their powers, consciously or subconsciously, in their mind.

At least, that's how I remember him. That and he was green in the comics.

Next we'll have someone complaining that Mystique couldn't shapeshift her way out of her prison cell. (answer, just in case someone asks: The manacles she was wearing re-adjusted to the size of the wrist no matter how small or thick she made herself).

Its a movie about humans being further evolved and having mutant powers. You guys are worried about the likelyhood of a mutant being able to get rid of someones powers? You watch a movie so fictional its almost laughable and then ***** about realistic things.

........****.

I just wanted to no somthing. When magneto drops the bridge it is in the daytime right? But when they cut back to the bridge scene it is night.

Nope...the Leech in comics was also only able to negate other Mutants powers...not meta-humans in general.

Also...even manacles like that wouldn't be able to hold Mystique...she would simply shape shift into smaller arms so that her arms would just like shrink and srink until there was nothing left in the manacle at all...

I'm thinking this is because originally they were going to have the bridge scene in the middle of the movie DC but then they moved the bridge scene to the end of the movie.

not sure if anyone above me has stated this but in actual facts, mutation is explained as overactive cells/mollecules/energy,and leechs actual power is to suspend all forms of energy,so i assume the energy in over active cells goes with the territory

I believe it is only in X-Men Evolution that Leech's power is described as suspending forms of energy.

Funny, I thought the kid that could blink and change TV channels had the stupidest mutant power ever :)

thats not really fair, alot of guys on this board would love to be able to change the channel without having to move (no offense to the mildly obese comic book fans on this board),IMO,i didnt really see any powers id consider stupid because most of the non fight worthy powers can still have practical uses in every day life, like the girl that can somehow make whatever she hears appear as words on paper, every one of us students would love that power!

Did you even read my post? I said I realize it's all unrealistic, but the character Leach, and anything it's based on is ridiculous. It makes no sense whatsoever, no matter if it is genuine.
It's poorly written and poorly executed, not to mention COMPLETELY unbelievable in any sense. I don't think an audience (let alone a mainstream audience) should be expected to swallow a pill like this, no matter the level to which they suspend their disbelief. It's nonsense and it's a poor plot point to base a movie around. The mutant is unnecessary. He does not add to the plot in any way.

in the words of Ben Affleck "They're fictional charcters, are you getting this FICTIONAL characters"
so you though that rogues ability to touch someone and borrow they're powers for a short time was more beleivable than leeches power??????

ugh, you people are STILL *****ing about that one?

did it ever occur to you that changing the TV channels was simply one aspect of his powers? perhaps he can communicate with all technology, or can control certain energy wavelengths

One of my biggest problems with this film was the source of "The Cure." A mutant who can "deactivate" or "neutralize" a specific gene (let alone one as prominent as the X gene)?
Give me a break.
I can suspend my disbelief for much of the movie. I understand that it isn't possible for these people to have powers in the first place, but I am unwilling to believe that a mutant could change the genetic structure of any creature it comes in contact with instantaneously!
In order for the change we saw in Beast to occur, the mutant/cure would have to
1) remove or neutralize the X gene
2) replace the X gene or change the way it works
3) cause all cells created with the genetic code containing the X gene to die
4) create entirely new cells with neutralized or missing X genes to replace the old
5) regrow all hair and fingernails without the X gene
6) do 1 through 5 instantaneously
7) and do so without the body of the host rejecting the new cells as cancerous of flawed.

It's not just unrealistic, it's ridiculous. It is STUPID.

NERD!!!!

What a silly thread. We have a man who can shoot beams out of his eyes that can punch a hole in a mountain. A woman who can literally rip people apart with her mind. Another who can control the weather. Another who can steal the powers of others. One who can turn into any other human.

Why would you even pick in the realism of the powers. It's fantasy. It isn't supposed to be real.

I was going to make that point...Technopaths are super powerful in the X-men universe...especially seeing as how there is so much technology for them to use and abuse...

Actually I thought [The Cure/Leech] storyline was good . It touched on some very strong issue in a way.
