I guess they were slightly more successful than their Captain Marvel boycott. They sure showed their box office influence on that one!
The last real season ends this June, only on The CW!
That's....a lot of cuts.
Yeah, just mentioned in the S&L threads that John and Nat are the only ones I really wanted saved. Shame for them but hopefully the final season is still worthwhile as a goodbye to Clark, Lois and the boys.I mean look, I'm mad about Steel and Natalie, but hey trimming down Lana and her CW family drama is cool.
Flick....

And one in particular was very necessary and overdue! Most of them are superfluous, IMO.
The entire show is family drama. It's a literal family drama.I mean look, I'm mad about Steel and Natalie, but hey trimming down Lana and her CW family drama is cool.

This feels like a weird reading of a show that's been working so well this season. The show is built around the entire cast. I love Clark and Lois most, but there is a reason a lot of these names have been there from day one. Lana especially, who's arguably the third or fourth major character on the show. Most of them are superfluous, IMO.

I agree. Too many side stories. Most of them are superfluous, IMO.
No one is more CW then Jordan. Literally no one. Hell, Jon has had multiple CW plotlines, including being on drugs and a girlfriend with a terrible daddy.I know but the Kent-Lane family drama is the focal point! Lana and her CW teen drama rama is SO unnecessary, give my fast forward finger a break.
Yeah, can't imagine they're new to censorship.Couldn't they just blur it out if it was so terrifying?Stupid.

Like it's really weird to call her superfluous and then act like John Henry isn't. Unless you think the show is just about superpowers, which I think we all know, it isn't.

I wanted John and Nat but can understand the decision there. Lana however, is right at the top of the supporting character list so that one was a surprise. Hopefully (as you say) we still see these characters pop up so it seems business as usual, just now hyper-focused on the Kents as things draw to a close.I don't expect to know how many are actual cuts vs just reductions till the season filming schedule is firmed up. But yeah, its about what I expected when they said they were going to reduce the regular cast, though going all the way up to Chirqui on the Cushing side did kind of surprise me a bit. We will see how many return as guests or recurring.
We are on the same page, friend. I agree.I don't mind the CW storylines involving the main characters (which includes the boys), but side stories involving Kyle that don't involve the Kents feel like they're wasting my viewing time.

The show is a CW show. It has CW storylines. Even Clark and Lois. But what makes it work is the writing and performances. There has been one exception, that pretty much everyone has agreed on.
Yes. Because when Lois talks about her battle with cancer, her recovery, and how she got through it, there all there for a reason. The boys storylines are intertwined with the two other kids. There is a reason this is a big scene:Yes the show is definitely hitting it's stride this season, but again it's due largely (IMO) to the efforts of our main Kent-Lane family. I mean really you think if they kept all the Super Family stuff and didn't have Lana and her subplots with her slapping Sarah, her ex-husband sleeping with Chrissy and etc the show would be lacking?
I mean yeah, it's Kyle. We all know Kyle sucks. Even FC knows Kyle sucks.I don't mind the CW storylines involving the main characters (which includes the boys), but side stories involving Kyle that don't involve the Kents feel like they're wasting my viewing time.
