The Superhero Cinematic Civil War - Part 60

If I were a betting man, I'd be more inclined to predict Dafne Keen will be the main MCU Wolverine and Jackman will be the next RDJ, popping up in lots of different movies to goose audience interest and being the biggest character in the Avengers movies, in between mentoring Keen in the X-men films.

They are not going to have competing Wolverine's. Jackman is it. After the monumental success of Deadpool & Wolverine, he and Reynolds are going to be MCU staples going forward.
Unless...

They go with that Henry Cavill variant. :o

So I finally saw D&W. I enjoyed it more than the first two films but I absolutely agree with @flickchick85 that it’s cameo porn— and the strength of the movie is mostly in those cameos.
Spotting Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” (specifically the gospel chorus) in the climatic scene actually works dramatically. And does Jackman have a clause in his contract to have a shirtless scene in every X-Men movie he’s in?

I was a bit underwhelmed with Emma Corrin as the main villain. I expected them to give her a bit more nuance than the standard Marvel villain.

Caped Crusader is a germ of a good idea but after watching it, I understand why it struggled to find a home.

'97 is in a league all of its own.

Sure, if wildly rushed story arcs, unconvincing character relationships and atrocious voice acting are your thing! Otherwise, MAWS remains king of the current animated superhero shows at the moment.

Kelly Clarkson has 7 Emmys. Modern Family won the top prize 5 years in a row. The Wire has none. Parks & Rec has none. Always Sunny has never been nominated. Game of Thrones won the top prize for season 8, one of the most reviled television seasons ever put to screen. All hail the great judgement of the Television Academy! :funny:

Tatiana Maslany only has 3 nominations/wins of Emmy's for all 5 seasons of Orphan Black. The Emmy's has problems.

I do see why people like it. Especially people who have not been into the comics, and have not had to see essentially this whole season repeat itself over and over and over and over in the past 20 years of comics. My problems with the changes to Maddie and with DeMayo himself are definitely unique though.

Still, it is weird to compare the two styles Studio Mir went with. And one style is definitely their stronger point.

The main problem with the Emmy’s is that they are notorious for their voting body not watching all the nominees. So the most-seen show is often the winner by default. Tatiana only won ONE Emmy for OB, btw. One. When she was the best performer in her category all 5 years. The year she finally won was when the show was at its peak buzz, so the voters were finally aware of it.

I watched first episode of Caped Crusader. I don't think it was quite BTAS quality, but I liked it. But most of ya said thats least good one anyway. I will maybe watch more after Summerslam tonight if I get a chance

Even taking the Emmys out of the conversation, episode 5 of X-Men '97 was still god tier superhero television.
That’s actually where I quit the show in my mind. :funny: I kept watching for a couple more eps, but yeah, that episode in particular was just a pure OTT soapy mess to me. And I grew up on teen soaps! And Rogue’s voice actress took me right out of the drama the most there too.

Like I said, its powerful to those that haven't gone through it again and again over the past 20 years of X books.

And I say this as a big Apocalypse fan, good luck if they are adapting Blood of Apocalypse as closely as they seem to be hinting at.

I love X-Men 97, I also loved Caped Crusader as well!

A few of my friends have teased me for watching other animated stuff like Clone Wars, but I’ve seen the stuff they watch…

Animation is my favourite medium!
I'm a big animation fan myself, and I'm embarrassed to admit I still haven't watched Harley Quinn or My Adventures with Superman yet, among others. Caped Crusader also but that literally just came out. I definitely will get around to it, it's just that my job has gotten so crazy busy lately that I've taken to procrastinating in my leisure time. :o

On the topic of animation. What’re y’alls bets on how Spider-man Freshman Year will turn out? I think thats coming this Fall.
