They probably had something planned. They released a set video for the 1st day of filming Infinity War back in 2017.

It's funny to me that the main reason fans wanted Disney to acquire Fox was because they wanted & expected a total reboot of X-Men to come out of it, but all they've done with the property is recycle Fox's leftovers for nostalgia pops.

Yeah they are definitely saving some BIG stuff for Comic-Con in July where we should get more info on the plot along with posters, concept art and whatever that leaked bootleg trailer is going to be.

I have to say though I really wasn't expecting the OG X-Men to have this big of a role in Doomsday but surely they were going to be in Secret Wars.

Alan Cumming and Rebecca Romijn coming back as Night Crawler and Mystique is are easily the biggest surprises for me though but I'm also a bit surprised that they gave away Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden and Channing Tatum coming back as well.

I'm guessing Wesley Snipes and Jennifer Garner could be back at some point too along with Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds and possibly Andrew and Tobey too which are the most obvious.

I'm also expecting Halle Berry and Famke Janssen to be in there as well but they have to save some stuff for Secret Wars or else this is going to be way too much for one movie unless both are three hours long.

Either way these movies are going to insanely stacked with characters but it's not like everybody is getting a bunch of screentime anyways.

Playing the long game which is the right play. Nostalgia pops now, which the audience likes and the reboot will happen after Secret Wars.

Sources say that even with 26 actors announced, Marvel wasn't done with revealing the entire cast, although when and how another unveiling would occur was unclear.

Don’t worry. The new movie Fortnite: Cameo Porn will have more announced later.

As for bringing many of the Feige/Fox X-Men characters back, it really takes the wind out of establishing new ones. It was difficult enough when First Class did it with the younger recasts.

In retrospect, there can only be so many cast members in this thing. Its hard to write a coherent script with 100 characters floating about. The Russos and Mcfeely when writing the script have to have had to pick a core group they were going to center the movie on without it getting too out of control. So I think the people announced today are the core protagonists--to varying degrees--the movie will be centered on.

The fact that Pedro came right before Downey signifies he and the F4 are the main protagonists of this.

I do agree that Pedro being credited 2nd likely means he is the lead hero of the movie. Which is good, I am happy about that for a movie called Doomsday and adapts Secret Wars. Reed should be the lead

I don't think there was much of an order to how they revealed the names today apart from those two being saved for last and the X-Men surprises coming towards the end of the reveal. Pedro could be top billed if Reed is the lead hero and Downey gets an "And Robert Downey Jr. as Doom" credit like Brolin did for Thanos.

I think he has to be cause he shouldn't be credited that high if he isn't. His name comes after a lot of bigger names than he is, and he doesn't have tenure either. So I think it's a thing

So I am guessing all those reports about how Reed Richards rivalry wasn't going to factor much into the story and that it was going to be about Spider-Man being distressed that Doom looks like Tony Stark were all bull****? Color me shocked.

Eh, Reed seems to me like the type who loves science and would look into those kinds of theories and such anyway. I think it males more sense to have Doom or whoever pull them out of their timeline at the beginning of Doomsday and make that an awesome high stakes opening than doing it in a movie that maybe makes them look like jobbers

Yeah that makes sense, but I think it just makes more sense that they get pulled into the sacred timeline in their first movie, maybe so much in the the ending, but at the very least as a post-credit stinger, with their multiversal hopping through our reality iniated by Doom which is how you would lead-in to Doomsday.

I think Xavier will probably be safe because it's happened so many times before but Magneto hasn't been given a proper death on screen yet so he's definitely a candidate. If either of them or both of them die, it might not be until Secret Wars anyway.

Either way, these two movies will probably be the swan song for Stewart and McKellen as these characters. For real this time. They'll both be pushing 90 when Secret Wars comes out.
