*The New Superhero Cinematic Civil War Thread - Part 61

I forgot he was cast in that movie, lol. What a bullet dodged there, lol.

Looking at the cast, it's like a mixed bag of dodged bullets and some that would have been cool to see.

Armie Hammer, Megan Gale and DJ Cotrona as the trinity probably would have made Cavill, Affleck and Gadot look like the definitive versions of those characters. Hammer would have been way too young anyway since he'd have been around 21-22 when this was in development. Teresa Palmer as Talia was also just a wild choice apart from being too young. Jay Baruchel would have also been too young for Max Lord.

Common as John, Hugh Keays-Byrne as J'onn and Santiago Cabrera as Aquaman could have been interesting but I'm having a hard time picturing it.

The best casting decisions for that by far were all Flash related: Adam Brody as Barry (who deserved better than being second banana to Levi in the Shazam movies), Anton Yelchin as Wally, and Zoe Kazan as Iris.

DJ Cotrona sounds like some d-bag who got hired to spin at the worst New Year’s Eve party you’ve ever been to.

Justice League Mortal would have been a wild crazy ass movie that probably would have underperformed at the BO but probably been a glorious cult classic.
I totally understood why they were pushing a JL movie right out the gate seeing how popular the DCAU JL show was. I was more surprised the lineup featured Aquaman instead of Hawkgirl.

Did kid you collect GI Joes?

My dad saved a few for me, I never got into it.
I had some. They were cool toys.

I got my first lesson in deceptive marketing with GI Joes. I owned a couple of them. Then one day, while my mom was at the grocery, I remember walking to the toy store that was next door. I was probably around 7 or 8. I saw a Destro action figure and the package read “With swivel arm battle grip!” So I saved up my money until I could buy the thing, thinking that the “swivel arm battle grip” was some kind of awesome weapon. But when I bought it, it turned out that it just meant that his forearm could rotate. I remember thinking that I’d been swindled.

If true, Multiverse variant? The son from Wakanda Forever in a time jump?

Then again, take it with some salt, considering it’s Sneider!

Ha!

You just unlocked a memory for me. When I was little I had that Stretch Armstrong villain toy, Vac Man. Dude, the commercial was like you could pump him up and stretch him to hell, but as soon as I tried that with the actual toy, that damn thing broke!

Such BS.

I think this is the right call and what they need to do. I have to believe its what Chadwick would have wanted too, for the character to live on. I think Coogler absolutely made the right call to pay tribute to Chadwick and not recast for Wakanda Forever but its time for T'challa to make his triumphant return. I mean, that would be such a cathartic way to end the BP trilogy, wouldn't it? The Return of the King.

I’ve always been curious what the film would have been like.

I'd say, hopefully, both
T'Challa Jr, but from an alt world where he is aged up to full adulthood
I still feel like T'Challa is Chad's legacy, leave it to him, but have your cake and eat it too by aging up the kid via the multiverse

Even back then I was skeptical about them casting unknowns as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman but I would have been there on opening weekend for sure.

I remember as a teen when the cast was announced, the only ones I were familiar with was Brody and Baruchel.
