The Superhero Cinematic Civil War

I swear to god this has been reported like 80 times already! Confirm it or no!

Raimi has denied it at a recent convention. Or he could be lying. I think it’s made up.

Even if true, Zendaya and Holland are booked for a good chunk of 2024– Zendaya’s commitment to her HBO series and Holland doing that “Romeo & Juliet” play — and it wouldn’t feel right for Raimi to direct a Spider-Man movie without his original cast members.

I think Raimi would gladly do a SM-4 but with Tobey and Kirsten. And with full creative control.

Speaking of things to take with a big grain of salt, but I found this bit on the Technodrome Forums for the TMNT Last Ronin film, and I thought it was worth sharing, (another place I frequent).

If this person actually interacted with someone involved online, I’m betting it was the writer Tyler Burton Smith as he has a Twitter account.

As always, take it with some salt, but I would love it if Last Ronin was connected to the 1990 film! Plus, the project is still in development!

I know that Spidey report has people preoccupied with Raimi but it also mentions other directors.

The other names I’ve been told might also be in the running are John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, they directed “Game Night,” “Dungeons & Dragons,” and wrote 2017’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” They could be a good fit. Also, Jon Favreau, who kicked off the whole MCU in 2008 with “Iron Man,” is someone that has been mentioned to me, a couple of times, as a possibility.

I really enjoyed Game Night and DnD, so I'd be down for Daley and Goldstein doing it.

Maybe I'm reading into something that's not there but Ziglar specifically says that decision was to make her a mutant. Nothing in his statement says the mandate had to kill her as well, which might be what this "marvel spokesman" is specifically denying. Basically:

Ziglar - "Feige wants her to be a mutant"
i09 runs the story that Kamala dying and being reborn as a mutant was a Feige decision
Marvel - "No Feige did not tell us to kill Kamala, that was an editorial decision".
Correct. He probably requested Kamala be retconned as a mutant for synergistic purposes, and then someone in Marvel editorial realized with the Krakoa stuff the X-books were doing at the time, killing her and then having her brought back via the mutant resurrection protocols made the most sense to do it.

I remember there being a similar miscommunication surrounding Captain Marvel prior to the release of her solo flick. Back in the days before Feige was in control of the comics, leaks from the set showed Carol in full Kree attire. It was rumored that the movie version would be at least part Kree and they may be telling Mar-Vell’s story with Carol Danvers. The comics retconned the origin to make her mom a Kree, which didn’t make much sense, only to find out Marvel Studios was making an origin movie that was very faithful to the original Ms Marvel comic book.

I’d love to see Daley and Goldstein writing and directing Spidey 4. I’ve loved all their films, even the much maligned Vacation reboot.

I love Raimi, adore his first two Spidey movies and still have a soft spot for the third one, but a) creative filmmakers barely have a chance at being creative within the MCU, b) I don't care all that much about Raimi directing Holland's Spider-Man and c) I really didn't like Multiverse of Madness. So within this context I'm sad to say that it wouldn't do much to me.

But given it's been reported by World of Reel it's probably not true anyway. They make up stories all the time.

I doubt it's true. Fairly certain during the promo tour for MoM, Raimi stated the only Spider-Man 4 he'd make is one with Tobey, which is understandable. I feel it might be jarring to direct another installment of a different inerpretation with a new actor. Though, I suppose it all depends. Martin Campbell did Goldeneye and Casino Royale.

Just found out there's a freaking Ethel Cain song in Invincible. I had no idea the show was THAT cool. I've had it on my watchlist for a while but might have to start tonight lol.

I totally forgot that the second half of Invincible S2 is all out there. It felt really under the radar compared to the first season. Maybe there's a lesson here and that's not to split an 8 episode season in half.

DnD was awesome. I haven’t seen Game Night but that is certainly one big thing in their favour then.

That Spidey 4 news source looks like a bunch of BS, I'd absolutely love that though but i feel like Feige has no intention of Raimi touching Spiderman 4. Raimi's DEFINITELY going to be doing another Marvel Studios movie though.

I would rather Raimi do Doctor Strange 3 or Secret Wars personally. Just cause it'd be different. I don't have much interest in him doing a Tom Holland Spider-Man film, and I also again give zero credibility to whoever this blogger is. We have had Goddard and Lin both recently rumored for this and both ultimately ended up on other projects. So much like I was with FF casting at a certain point, wake me up when there is REAL news to talk about. Not scooper bullcrap for clicks

Well now we can just complain that they aren't being played by big name stars like Kevin Costner and Diane Lane. :o
Just don't.
