The Superman Look: Shaping Superman

yeah, that suit is pretty bad... and I mean the Supes suit.

the Batman suit isn't that bad... but it could use improvements

The Superman suit Socko; he looks like a greasy roid bodybuilder in ballerina tights :/

Not a pleasant sight.

LOL. Now that you ask me what other than O'Hearn that I didn't like about it, I don't have an answer. I was a bit harsh when I said the fanfilm was terrible, I will take that back. It was just O'Hearn that was terrible. I thought O'Hearn looked like a really big monkey. Take a look at this pic and look at his legs

http://item.slide.com/r/1/88/i/EI6y1EijpT_rRVvuOZIbtD8f96wWMc81/

And look at his Clark Kent. If this isn't a vanilla gorilla, I don't know what is

http://item.slide.com/r/1/88/i/2ONkJ2DoxT8CIqpxihc1JvPROJBVDYz6/ (he's the humongous one towering over everyone who sticks out like a sore thumb)

There's no way in hell that is Clark Kent, he is so big that they had to put the actor who plays Batman in lift boots. So I didn't mean the fanfilm was bad, it was ok, I just don't like O'Hearn. But btw, I love Bartram as Batman.

Your comment about his legs makes me laugh.....because that is what the women were drooling over (no kidding)....they zoomed in on them and commented on how much they liked a fit man with great legs.:woot:

I never did like O'Hearn's build... too big for Supes, IMO

really... I'm gonna have to keep that in min then :D...

I've heard mostly posititve reviews of that fanfilm. I personally liked it a lot. If you don't mind me asking, what other than O'Hearn did you not like about it? I know a couple of women in their 30's who really liked the look of O'Hearn.

Thought it was a WWF promo or something, actually - only recently realized there was an entire film. I've only seen stills. Is it online? I'd like to see it. Then I can respond to your last comment above...

From the stills alone, I'd say: nice bod but possibly overdone, at least as Clark, but from his expression, he doesn't look too swift. Also, he looks very slick, like he spends a lot of time combing his hair in front of the mirror to get the curl just so. The real Clark/Supes wouldn't come across like that. But those are first impressions; I'll give a more informed commentary after seeing it.

Thanks!

...okay, while I was typing a bunch of other posters responded. I looked at the linked stills. First pic: as much as I like great (muscular) legs, his do stand out as being a bit overdone. Thighs are much too big compared to the calves. Also, his belt is too tight, which emphasizes the issue. Supes doesn't wear a corset, and he should definitely be top-heavy (shouldn't have to stand with his legs far apart to stand in the first place)... Second pic: yikes. That will NOT blend. Just not. Suit jacket looks too big, too. Switch the girls and it isn't quite as bad, but it's bad. Notice his hair: looks the same as when he's Supes.

I like Routh's physique pretty well, although proportionately the suit - the Singer suit, the one in the movie - would look better on him with bigger biceps.

Close to a perfect physique? Check out Brendan Fraser's Premiere mag spread from a few years back. Pretty nice. Same for how he looked in George of the Jungle. Those proportions but a tad bigger for Supes. As much as I like Routh, I really enjoy Fraser's movies & am sorry he didn't get the role - would have liked seeing him in the Suit :-> & as Clark. Link to our BlueTights discussion about him: http://www.bluetights.net/theplanet/showthread.php?t=22244&page=169

A certain other gentleman who plays a certain similar role as BR - c'est un homme magnifique! But this may not be the place to bring that up ;->

that one with him around everyone else... his face... it looks like a doll's face...

That doesnt translate to his suitibility for Superman at all C Lee...
I didn't say that it did.....he said O'Hearn looked terrible....I gave him an example of several people who thought he looked great....and the fact that they aren't fanboys (or even boys for that matter) needs to be thought about becausemost of the audience at the theater aren't fanboys either.

Completely agree. For the most part, I liked the batsuit but it had a few problems too.

oh ok. Thought you meant Batman's suit sucked at first :oldrazz:

Did you see the pic I posted of him as Clark in the tux? You gotta admit that he is way too big to be Clark.

btw, those thighs are too big although the colors of his suit were great!(only good thing I can really say about him). As I said before, he looks like Nic Cage on roids and a dash of the Rock.

I have the fan film...so I have seen him in various clothes. And you are missing the point of my comments. I didn't say if I thiught he would make a good Superman or not (I personally think he's a little too big)....I was showing that there are many of the average movie going public who aren't gigantic comic book fans....who do feel he looks good and right for the part.

Arnt kryptonians meant to have perfect genetics therefore i think Routh should be a bit bigger and more ripped e.g brad Pitt in troy.
Since when does a ripped torso equal genetic perfection?

I've never liked Superman looking like a bodybuilder. He's tall and muscular, sure, but his power doesn't come from training his pecs. It makes more sense that Batman is far more muscular than Supes.

It was a pretty cool trailer in itself, but I am sick of the love that it receive, some people even talking about Collara doing a Superman movie with O'Hearn attached. I hate that story.

Thank goodness Singer doesn't or else he may have gotten the role. O'Hearn auditioned back in '04, but I'm sure you already know this.

Oh and I get what you're saying.

a fanfilm. why not? too bad it's just a trailer.

Anyone know who's bigger? Christian Bale or Brandon Routh?

Okay, I was searching the internet to find what a muscular, ripped guy with Superman's dimensions (6'3", 235 lbs) would look like in real life.

I tried to find someone with as little bodyfat as possible, and came across this guy:

Name: Stefano (no last name listed on the website)
Height: 6'4" (I know he's an inch taller)
Weight: 240 lbs (Superman would weigh 238.13333 lbs if he were 6'4" tall, so that's pretty close)

I hope this puts an end to all the speculation about Superman's look, but it probably won't.

Comments?

Looks about right in that shot, but we'd have to see him standing next to ordinary folks in street clothes to see if he could pass for Clark. Six one or two is probably best height. Two ten to two two twenty-five tops weight wise.
