The Themes and Metaphors of "Batman Forever"

By your logic you would love Batman and Robin because it just upped the ante of Batman Forever.

the deleted scene where he reads the red book was awesome. after he got shot, his memory was lost, so alfred takes him down to the cave to show him that he's batman. i guess bruce forgot he was batman or something...

He didn't lose his memory. Throughout BF he was having an identity crisis, he didnt know if he wanted to be Batman anymore and at one point he chose not to be. The repressed memories about the book made him think he was respnsible for his parents' death, so he really didn't know WHY he was Batman. In the cave, he saw that he wasn't responsible for the Waynes' murder, and he chose to be Batman Forever.

Batman, who clearly is the most heterosexual character ever, was sexually confused in Batman Forever. When Riddler gave him the choice between man and woman. He chose both. Turns out he's bi.

bros before hoes...lol.

but he didnt seem like he was attracted to robin to me. if anything, bruce probably treats him more like a son.

batman seemed pretty gay in the old series though. i remember catwoman was telling batman that they should go somewhere to live together, and he was like "what about robin?" hahaha..but like i said; i think he thinks of dick more as a son than anything else.

I'm watching Batman Forever right now....and IMO, the whole movie is basically an updated version of the Batman from the 1960's. Some people got it and some didn't. With that, still doesn't make up for some of its shortcomings.

Oh, and this gay stuff is ridiculous...Just,...wrong and over exaggerated. A waste of time.

I hear you man

they all seem to becomming from this Penismightier guy

following Penismightier's in depth essay about his views about the riddler i made my own
From the introduction in the novel
Edward Nygma started out as a nerdy kid at school with a love for puzzles
he was also envious of a young Bruce Wayne for the life he had
Moving on

We first see him as a low level employee for wayne enterprises
He is clearly lacking in self confiedence as he repeats to him self "I am a winner" he is also surrounded by pictures of his idol
Upon meeting him he is literally speechless (As someone would upon meeting their idol)
he preposes his Box to bruce with the hope that they will be buisness partners

The Bat-signal rises causing bruce to leave making it seem that he is just brushing edward off which crushes edward (much like syndrome in the Incredibles)

After experiementing his box on that prick boss of his he realises that he is gaining brain power ( in the novel it explains that aswell as making him smarter it is also frying his brain)
Edward then starts his vendetta against bruce sending him riddles
he then deciedes on a new identity (which reflexes his love for puzzles)
THE RIDDLER

He then finds an alliance with Two- Face (who has his own vendetta for batman)he makes a deal a box in every home for batman's secret identity

We Reach the Middle of the film where Nygma has finally become the person he wanted to be ( A spitting image of Bruce Wayne) with his own Company and is focused on showing up bruce.
he then persuades bruce to "TEST" his machine
which leads to bruce's home being trashed bat cave destroyed his girl stolen his identity revealed and nearly killed oh and another riddle

The aim of the riddles was to give away The riddlers s.i
The Riddler was sucking up gotham's brainwaves (making him crazier)
Batman defeated him and took him to arkham where he was under the belief that he was batman (proving my theory that the machine was frying his brain)

SO there you have it

@ Darkness Falls: It's not like after you posted this, it means that Mightier's is wrong. It's not. Just f'ing live with it, the analysis is correct, but it doesn't mean you've got to think of what he wrote everytime you see Batman Forever.

You have me all wrong friend
Mightier wrote his analysis
I wrote my own
Two different interpretations
from two fans

he sees the riddler as gay, thats his interpretation (which is fine)
I see him differently

You don't have to listen to everything I wrote when you see the movie, it just makes Batman Forever absolutely hilarious if you do.

This is pretty much a synopsis of what happened to him with a few small details that you analyzed. Mine was a 1500 word essay completely breaking down basically every scene the character appeared in. Sure, you could write an analysis that would work with your theories, but mine makes a lot more sense.
