Injustice 2‘s previously unannounced Multiverse mode recently surfaced as the new way to enjoy the game’s single-player experience.
The mode reportedly showed up in a playable build at the recent Insomnia Gaming Festival in Birmingham, England. The mode, previously teased by developer NetherRealm, is pitched as the Injustice equivalent of Mortal Kombat X‘s Living Towers mode, serving as an offline way for players to farm good gear. A description was posted to Shoryuken where the new mode was reported, but the description wasn’t sourced.
“In addition to the campaign, online, and fighting game standard arcade modes, Injustice 2 also introduces the new Multiverse mode. Similar to Mortal Kombat X‘s Towers, the Multiverse allows players to travel to an ever-changing series of parallel worlds in the DC Universe and battle alternate versions of the heroes and villains with various handicaps, stipulations, and goals. Completing the gauntlet, you’ll gain access to various tiers of Motherboxes, which yield new Gear, items, and shaders for your characters.”
A screenshot of the mode from the event reveals its planet-based UI. Six of the seven reported planets are visible in the image, and each planet seems to support one to three objectives that expire after set amounts of time. As for the notches below the planet names, perhaps it pertains to the difficulty level that planet’s current challenges. The original information came through YouTuber Super who details what he learned in a recent video.

In other Injustice 2 news, a leaked image of the Deadshot character’s trait ability also came out during the event, revealing different ammunition types that the fighter can switch between. (Apologies for the low quality.)

Other Batman villains, Scarecrow and Poison Ivy, were recently introduced in new gameplay trailers.
Injustice 2 is slated to launch May 16th on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a mobile version expected to drop around the same time. Check out our guide to everything we know about the game to stay up to date on all the new reveals.

The final chapter of Injustice 2‘s ongoing story trailer series, Shattered Alliances, will arrive this Thursday, April 20th.
The announcement tweet also showed who we’ll see when the full trailer drops: Superman villain Brainiac, previously confirmed as the game’s big bad. His official art provides the next piece of an ongoing mural, depicting Injustice 2‘s heroes and villains locked in an epic brawl.

Then again, there’s a chance this tweet harbors a secret clue for an even more interesting development. You may have noticed, as we did, that the tweet actually mentions “Braniac.” Sure, it could be a simple typo, but it might also be our first clue at the arrival of a new character powered by, obsessed with, or in some way related to bran. Just in case, I created my own mockup of this Braniac:

While the Shattered Alliances trailers have generally been focused primarily on story, but there’s a chance we’ll get some early info about the fighting style of Brainiac (or Braniac). If not, we’ll likely learn more soon enough.
After all, Injustice 2 has been coming in fast with character spotlights recently. This week, NetherRealm has already provided a close look at another of the game’s playable villains, Poison Ivy. The trailer offered some insights into the flora-themed fighter’s style.
Injustice 2 launches on May 16th on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

That trailer (part 5) was epic, brainiac looks all kinds of cool. I do question why he just wants Superman when Kara is Kryptonian too. I loved that "allow me to give you a proper demonstration" line, the delivery was perfect Superman.

Reminds me of "What we have here is a rare opportunity for me to cut loose and show you just how powerful I really am."

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm have confirmed that the next character joining the Injustice 2 roster will be revealed on April 28th.
As with previous teases, the black silhouette offers no hints as to who the next fighter will be, so we’ll just have to wait until next week to find out.
Earlier this week, NetherRealm revealed the game’s Multiverse Mode. This new mode is similar to Mortal Kombat X‘s Living Towers, allowing players to travel to a series of parallel worlds in the DC Universe and battle alternate versions of the heroes and villains with various handicaps, stipulations, and goals.
As well as this, the final part of Injustice 2‘s story trailer series, titled Shattered Alliances, is scheduled to be released later today and will feature Superman villain Brainiac.
Injustice 2 hits Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on May 16th.

With the deluge of trailers and announcements for Injustice 2 over the past few months, you might have thought that development work on the game wrapped up a while ago. Not so, apparently. NetherRealm’s superhero fighting game has apparently only just gone gold.
While no “official” announcement was actually made, the banner and image of Injustice 2 creative director Ed Boon’s twitter account was recently updated with a gold-plated logo for the game (as spotted by WWG). Knowing Boon’s tendency for obvious hints, that’s as good as official confirmation.
For those unfamiliar with the term, “going gold” means that the game is completed and in the retail stage of release. There will likely be a day-one update for the game- as is customary nowadays- but NetherRealm Studios now has the build that fans will be getting their hands on.
The fifth and final trailer in the “Shattered Alliances” series completes the foundation for the game’s upcoming single-player story campaign. This new trailer has Brainiac invading Earth, forcing foes to become friends in order to stop him.
Injustice 2 is slated to launch May 16th on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a mobile version expected to drop around the same time. To keep up with all the game’s news in one place, check out EGM’s full guide to Injustice 2.

Injustice-2-Brainiac2.jpg

You may have your pre-orders placed and controllers ready for the launch of Injustice 2, but do you have enough space on your console? NetherRealm Studios has just dropped the file size of its upcoming fighting game on the Xbox Marketplace, letting fans know in advance how much space they’ll need to clear on their hard drives.
On the Xbox One version of the game, Injustice 2 will weigh in at 26.82GB. That’s not a huge amount of space, especially compared to some other recent games, but it’s enough that you may need to do some file management to get things in order.
So far, the file size for the PlayStation 4 version of the game hasn’t yet shown up on the PlayStation 4, but it’s likely to be pretty similar. Recent trailers have shown some of the characters included in all of those gigabytes of data, including Poison Ivy and, most recently, Brainiac.
Injustice 2 releases on May 16th.

After this trailer, seeing Supes and Bats team up again, this is definitely a Superman redemption story.

Anybody have more information about the rumored diverging storyline for story mode? How does it work? Do we pick a character or a faction and go through story mode from that persepctive?

If that's the case this will be an ambitious undertaking on NeatherRealm's part.

I've been reading the Injustice comics all day. I'm on year three now and this is a really good comic. It adds so much to the story in the games.

After reading much of the comic series (currently on year 5) I'm gonna have a hard time buying Superman as redeemed if it's the same one from the first injustice.

I'll probably just end up looking at the gameplay after the fact, but hey, it's out there...

Very good but he's gonna be an annoying boss.

Here's a leaked in-game look at the final character:

The hell is that?

Is that a Y-incision on his chest in the first pic? Is he resurrected? Personally, the look is growing on me. Looking forward to the customization options with him, pretty sure there will be an option to give him a Red Hood helmet which will be cool. Maybe movie-inspired shaders as well?

That hat needs to go.

Looks like they really took to the shirtless look

Console. There was some gameplay footage on YouTube with him fighting the Flash but it appears Ed Boon's ninjas took it down already.

really?

I'll wait for a better quality pic before judging.
