why is everyone so convinced that this story will be less violent than Man of Steel? I'm not convinced that just because a certain group of people found it too depressing and not full of jokes, that DC is going to be more hopeful. I'm just wondering have the studios come out and say that is the plan? I pray they keep the same tone of MOS without any changes. Like cute crap, like"it goes downhill after first kiss. That was for a lighter tone.

I don't think anyone thinks the overall story will be less violent, just less violent in regards to the Superman character. Personally, I fully expect violence (maybe even of the gory kind) to be depicted in scenes with Luthor and probably even this seasoned take on Batman, but not so much with Superman. Superman, I hope, will have grown since the first film, and will act more as an incredibly skilled and no less badass pacifier to all the danger coming his way, not as an aggressor like he was in his confrontations with Zod.

With more morally dubious characters like Lex and Batman, I'm hoping for horrific scenes like Lex maybe slaughtering an entire village in his rumoured search for Krpytonite, and maybe a TDKR inspired scene where Batman breaks a thug's bones in order to coerce information out of him.

Can't speak for everyone. I personally expect a bit less action (it would be logical to assume that it also includes "violence") and more narration, simply due to the fact that this movie has to introduce several important characters and their stories.

And I pretty much doubt that what anyone thinks of the movie is going to affect WB's/Snyder's decision to do something that they feel they should. Nor it should play a role. Creativity dies once the author lets the audience affect his decision. Quality story develops hermetically and in disassociation from wider influence.

with batman now involved, it would make sense to show the lighter side of superman as a counteraction, we need to see why the symbol stands for hope and not an S.

Everything I've seen tells me this one is going to be dark. It's going to be pretty involved plot wise because of the behind the scenes machinations of Luthor and his propaganda campaign. Mystery will abound with a lot of players with unknown motives and secret agendas.

if you talking about the tone tone its gonna be watchmen/man of steel... more comic booky larry fong style merged with nolans gritty reality which is perfect for me.

if you are talking tone of the story, its gonna be very serious, dark, "real" world problems.

Serious with fun and lighthearted moments.

What I'm hoping for:

- Serious stakes taken seriously.
- Casualties have consequences that affect the main characters.
- Humour is used naturally. People say and do funny things in a way that doesn't seem forced.
- Distinct action scenes that reflect the characters involved (Batman's actions scenes will be completely different from Supes and likewise from WW's). These unique styles of action used throughout the movie will make the final showdown when the characters work as a team all the more memorable.

What I think will happen:
- See above.

What I fear will happen:
- Mimicking Marvel where the humour, action, and drama must occur according to a metronomic formula. Not that I'm knocking it; it works, and I like the Marvel movies, but I want something different from DC.

You must think no film in the history of cinema has had those before Marvel films. :funny:

No, I'm not totally naïve. I know there are tried and true formulas for every genre (nearly every rom-com is simply a reboot of the same film over and over again).

I was trying to convey that I don't want the DC films to use the same formula as Marvel, but rather have them come up with something of their own that can be applied to their films moving forward from BvS.

Quote from Honest Trailers, "Because God forbid, a Superman fan shouldn't be any damn fun for anybody"

Let me repeat that "God forbid" sarcasm. They are right. Why should it not be fun? Do they have to ground every single thing about Superman to be serious that it won't be fun anymore? What would be the point? God forbid.

Man of Steel needed a little more humor. More humor. A couple good, laugh-out-loud moments. Minimum of five. The rest can be serious.

I want serious but not so serious that it can't be any fun for anybody else. So add some humor please.

I somewhat agree, more humor would be quite nice... but more than that, more personality. A movie being funny or fun is the result of characters having distinct, dynamic personalities. "Serious and melancholic" is (sigh) fine... but what else you got? Create a defined, proactive personality for Superman. More charming and cool, don't make him just a reactionary character who expresses the bare minimum in oral form. Create a specific, entertaining dynamic for the Daily Planet staff, one for Lois/Clark, Lois/Perry, Clark/Martha, Clark/Bruce, etc. Make these people nice to be around, not just cool-looking. Don't just coast on how iconic they are... create something there.

That was priority #1 with The Avengers: all the characters have unique personalities, the way X interacts with Y is different to the way he does with Z. Do that and the movie will be even more watchable than it has to be. And for the love of buddy Christ, tone up the colors.

That sounds pretty good. I don't think they'll mimic MCU ( which is pretty darn cool iteself IMO) because they want their own identity. I just hope they don't actively avoid similarities that might benefit them. I'll add the characters should be pretty unique and distinct outside of action also

All in all , as a MOS lover, I'm pretty confident.

When did this happen?

I want to see Superman as modern god and Batman in his Batgod mode. We didn't have Batgod in any of the movies, it is time for "I am the goddman Batman" kind of Batman.

they added captain buzzkill to the mix. it's going to be even more of a downer than the last one.:o
