We had a "Slick Willy" (Willie Brown) out here in California who was a very accomplished politician, very smart, very savvy, and I'll tell you for a fact he is by FAR the second Slickest Willy.

Oh yeah. He took out the first two GOP Assembly Speaker candidates (The Republicans had a majority that term AS they were being voted on. By separate GOP last second defections. The first defector, Cecil Greene as I recall later ran for State Senate and the Senate territory extended to where I lived. The weekend before the election, US Senator Alan Cranston rode in a car with a bullhorn getting out the vote. On election day registered Democrats got notices they could get a dozen donuts by presenting their ballot stubs. No attempt was made then to say vote for this guy. Just for voting, skirting existing law. But Republican voters didn't know about the deal.

Greene won. My donuts were delicious. And Willie Brown ruled over a Republican malority Assembly.
